And with the 13th pick in the 2008 NBA Draft, The Trail Blazers select...

The Blazers almost got lucky. When I say lucky, I mean they were one ping-pong ball away from getting the number one pick again in this years NBA Draft. The Blazers pulled three of four matching balls, came that close.

Now KP's got a big decison...Do they keep that 13th pick and try to go after a Russel Westbrook guy, or do they trade the pick to go after a guy named Kirk Hinrich? Here's what I think should be done.

Kirk Hinrich is not a good NBA point guard. He's a sub par scorer who plays decent defense, but that only takes a team so far. What the Blazers need is a PG who can get inside and dish some assists, and Hinrich is not that guy...Sorry pro-Hinrich Blazer fans.

The Blazers need to trade their 13th pick and the rest of the three second rounds picks, plus a front line guy. This will get the Blazers a good veteran player who will fit perfectly into the Blazers future plans. That's where I stand. I'd like to hear what Blazer fans think.

Nate wants a veteran. Not that many available. Just don't trade any essential nucleus players. I'd prefer a good shooter, playmaker, good 'd' and fits in beautifully.

I think they should maybe think about hunting for Ramon Sessions. In the games where he played a high amount of minutes for the Bucks late this year, he was notching 10+ assists and was showing a lot of promise. He seemed like a great fit for Portland's style of play, and considering he's young, he could be a great player for the team if they can work out a trade with Milwaukee.

To me, Hinrich is not the answer. You could make the case that Hinrich is a little overpayed as well. Hinrich basically does everything Steve Blake does, but a little better. Slightly better shooter, penetrator, passer, defender, etc. But we don't need "slightly" better - we need a significant upgrade. The problem is, we are not the only team that needs a better point guard. Good point guards don't just grow on trees. Fortunately, you don't need a great point guard to win. Just look at the Kobe/Shaq Lakers, or Jordan's Bulls, or Dwayne Wade in Miami. You just need a point who can run things until crunch time --- then give the ball to Brandon Roy.

I am a big Detroit hater, but would love to see C. Billups become our new PG and I think it would only cost us a second rounder and maybe a bench player. We need a 15-20 ppg player with some D-Skills and he fits the bill.

What about TJ ford... hes mister assist and we would not have to give up 4 picks and a body to obtain him....
