Around the Horn's Bill Plaschke begs Elton Brand to stay a Clipper

Plaschke is a weird guy, always really awkward on Around the Horn. Brand would be a backstabber if he left LA now, but I still wouldn't blame him, I mean, it's the Clippers.

i think brand should do whatever he wants to do. if its for the money so be it, would you turn away a millions of dollars? im pretty sure plaschke would nt so who is he to judge. brand should do what he wants, and i would argue that GS with brand (and not baron) is better than the clippers with Brand (and baron).

This guy just compared the Clippers to the Celtics. WTF. I am no Celtics fan, but Plaschke please. Get a grip. The Celtics are a historically top-tier franchise. The Clips are perennial also-rans.

If Brand goes to the Warriors they will be a better team then if he went to the clippers. A line up of Monta, Azuibuke, Steve Jax, Brand, and Biedrins would be sick. And he would have more money.

That might be the one of the funniest things i've read today. Monta, Azuibuke, Steve Jax, Brand, and Biedrins is a terrible line-up. The warriors have young talent in azuibuke and monta but other than that there is just nothing much there. now a line-up of Davis, mobley, Thorton, Brand, and Kaman would be a much better starting 5....each position is almost in favor of the clippers. Their bench is going to be much better this year and 10x better next year with Eric Gordon, and Jordan going to be studs in the league. I'd say the only place where GS might have an advantage is at the 5 and thats just because Biedrins is more athletic. But Kaman can do more than just Dunk and put-backs which is the only thing i've seen Biedrins do

id much rather have monta than mobly...monta avg 20 last year and so did captain jack which is beter than thortan. plus clippers will find a way to ruin everything anyway. they always do, there like the royals of basketball. when ever a team sees them on there schedule....they put a check mark for a win. no matter who they have, there the clippers!! the 5th worst team in california! (yes i know there are 4 teams in california)

saying as a line-up they would be better and mobly is a 2 where as monta is going to be GS point. So if we are comparing him to anyone it would be davis in which I still think davis has the upper hand. But since brand just screwed over the clips I don' t think it matters now....GS has a better line-up now unless the clips land smith which is a possibility. Thanks for telling it like it is: while GSW hoop fans (I'm one) are lamenting the loss of Davis (not me) they lose sight that the Warriors started 1-6 with Baron Davis playing nearly every minute of those games. It wasn't until Stephen Jackson returned that the Warriors turned it around. So, while many GSW fans mourn the loss of Davis; they also conveniently lose sight of Davis' propensity to take bad shots, miss timely free throws (he throws and doesn't shoot it), and sadly tries to impersonate Jordan with his fade away jumper: The Warriors getting Elton Brand would make the Warriors a better team, much more so than Brand staying with the Clippers!

I totally agree with Bill Plaschke. He knows how the Clipper fans feel. Elton Brand has been our hope through the many bad years (except for 2006).

Plaschke... needs to take a break... Home??? He is not even from LA... and the Baron Davis deal did not include Brand staying... BD has been trying to get back to LA for years... The Lakers didnt wanna take a chance on him because he was overweight with knee problems... then had an all star year... EB needs to go to PHILLY!!!!!

Anyone forget about a kid named Carlos Boozer? He had a chance to play with Labron James and went to the Jazz for $20 Mil more. Loyalties in sports when a franchise can trade you at a new GM or owner's whim, nah, I don't think so? Elton is 29, and a five year $100 Mil contract will take care of his life after basketball (make that production company more lucrative), and make the Warriors the 4th or 5th best team in the league. Neither roster is set, but the Clippers with Brand and Baron will finish worse than the Warriors, but with Brand, semifinals . . .

baron was in the same situation. even though the bay embraced him and loved him soo much he went for more money and a longer contract cuz it was the best thing for him. coming to the warriors would be the best decision for elton because he gets more money and the warriors are a much better team than the clippers....

A little reported story is that the Clippers can make an offer that's only $5 M - $10 M less than the Warriors offer if they withdraw their rights to a number of free agents (Maggette, Q. Ross, etc.). I think Brand will come back to L.A. The negative pub isn't worth it.
