Back to Philly

Home sweet home....

Hello everyone out there. I'm writing you this blog from the air. I'm enroute

to Philly for the weekend. I'm kinda excited right now because I'm

able to have one more weekend at home before the season starts. This weekend will be the last time I see Philly until we play the Sixers in February. Also, this will probably be the last time I see my family until November when we play the Nets.

While I've been in Memphis the past two weeks I've been just working out and

getting ready for the season. Most of my teammates have been in

Memphis early as well, so it's been a really good two weeks down in Memphis. I was able two get a look at some of the new guys and so far I like

what I see from of all of them. I think we are gonna surprise people this

year...

Now that you have a point guard you should sneak up on some people this year. Keep working on that 19" jumper Hakim and you'll be deadly in the league this year. Can't wait to watch you goto "WAR" again this year!

Can't wait to see all you guys on October 15!! Go Grizz!

i think u guys are gonna suprise alot of people this year too. as long as everyone stays healthy i think u guys will have a great season and be a very EXCITING team that memphis will love!

Best of luck starting your year off, Hak! Syracuse misses you. Why don't you stop up for a football game, throw a jersey on, and run some pass routes? With your hands, you can dime everyone! Best of luck from the 'Cuse!

Get some pizza from Lorenzo's, I miss that place

hakim warrick is the king, i'll never forget that block in the ncaa championship game...if you read this hakim...you would obviously remember josh pace...just thought i'd mention he won the mvp and championship this year for my nelson giants team here in the new zealand basketball league..he's a great player, anyways i appreciate the bloggin, all the very best for the season chief..no doubt your gonna have a big year and i'm sure the griz are gonna sneak up on and suprise everyone.good luck

Good luck keeping Darko and Pau cordial...

What up Hakim... season 3 is right around the corner...I got a quick question for ya...who in your life growing up did you look up to the most, it's obvious you have a lot of heart and drive in ya and thats usually a trait that rubs off from someone else...who had the biggest impact on your game...best of luck this season...stay focussed -AJ-

Thats a good question....i think growing up n philly i looked up 2 alot of the local players....i really looked up 2 my older cousin fred who played at coppin st and also rasheed who played at temple...those r 2 guys that i use 2 watch growing up as a kid.....

Hakim I know it's easier said then done, but please don't disappear once the season starts. We would love to hear your comments on the NBA during the season and how your day to day life is! Get in touch with me if you ever want to play some disc golf in the Memphis area!

Hakim,
As former Syracuse alumn and a big fan...now in Memphis too, just wondering what you see for yourself this upcoming year? For instance we all know you are one of the best finishers on the team; but have you gained weight to possibly hold other PFs in place?
Best wishies for a terrific upcoming year. We want you and the team to do well.

Hakim, I saw that you mentioned Rasheed as someone you looked up to. I know that both of you are from da bottom, but how do you feel being an NBA player and knowing that some of the people you competed against and some guys you looked up to growing up never had the chance to play in the league? Think about guys like Marvin O'Conner, or Donnie Carr. Those guys had game, but it never took them to the NBA. Then you have someone like Lynn Greer who is not a lock to make a roster. What do you think it is that separates you and guys like Kyle lowry from those who don't make it?

Hak, I wanna ask what you think you do that sets you apart from other guys in your mold as a basketball player. It seems that there are crowds of long, tall, athletics bigs out there - the Steven Hunters or Stromile Swifts of the world, yet the vast majority never make a huge impact on the league. Do you think you have what it takes to seperate yourself from being just another long, athletic guy - and what do you think you need to do to achieve that?

What the hell is there to do in Memphis?
