Charles Barkley Doesn't Think Any 2008 Free Agents Make Sixers a Contender

Sir Charles was a guest on NBC10's Sports Final last night alongside John Clark and WIP's Anthony Gargano talking Sixers, Phillies, Eagles and more. The entire portion of the show Sir Charles was on was typical Barkley. The man is an entertainer and knows his stuff.

When it comes to the Sixers, Charles thinks Andre Iguodala's true colors came threw in the playoffs where he didn't perform very well against legit competition. Aside from not being real high on Iguodala, Chuck isn't in love with Josh Smith either. "Josh Smith doesn't make them a legit contender," he says. Video below.

Let it go Charles,Even if we had Jordan in his heyday you would still look down on the sixers.Damn was it really that bad for you?hell you left and still did nothing ,Let it go man live in the now.

Barkley is right. The Sixers shouldn't waste money on one guy when they still need other parts. Charles wasn't ripping on Philly, he was telling it like it is, like he always has.

yeah Antawn Jamison is who I wanted and he's going back to Washington. Its really nobody out there that makes us much different than what we were last year. Although that Piston team should be ready to crumble, and Chicago is worse than us.We still could make the playoffs this year. I was listening to Anthony Gargano on 610 today and he was talkn about bringing in Shaun Livingston. I dont like that move either. He's 23 and has been injured every year he's been in the league. We got the money but its nobody to give it to. Go figure

Yea barkley does tell it how he is but sometimes his comments are assanine... But I think he is a funny guy!!!!!

antawns actually in the bay now lol, charles is right make a splash next year, play your heart out this year, and who knows? maybe we can get our ANSWER back? lol

I also heard the Shaun Livingston talk from the cuz on 610. He'd be cheap and who knows, but just cause we got the money doesn't mean we have to spend it just to spend it. We got to be smart, lets not be the knicks here.

Anyone considered holding out of FA this year and waiting till next year. Depending on what happens with Miller, Iggy, and Lou, there'd be closer to 20 mil to throw around. And next year's FA class looks good. Shawn Merrion fits our system, but I'm not sure how old he is. Joe Johnson will be a FA, and he's exactly the kind of scoring two we don't have. Andrew Bynum will be a RFA, but he'd be interesting.

I'm sold on Josh Smith, but if it doesn't work out, I'd live to pay another day.

actually if we could land josh smith cheap and grab joe johnson or shawn marion next year we would definitely be contenders

iggy still needs to work on game aint no way we maxin out for a on the verge star dudes not even an all star

How in the world are you going to get Josh Smith cheap? He won't sign a "cheap" offer sheet and if he did the Hawks would easily match. And if you do get Smith how are you going to afford Shawn Marion? Or Joe Johnson? It's nearly impossible.

I still believe that if the Sixers do get Smith they will do a sign and trade with Iguodala.
