Elton Brand explains his move...sort of

It has been a much documented story thus far, so I will try not to repeat most of it. We all know that Elton Brand turned his back on the Clippers and friend/new teammate Baron Davis by accepting the Sixers' offer for $82 million. Here's his explanation of the situation and why he left for the city of brotherly love. There was talk of an ultimatum given to David Falk (agent) and Brand, but I'm not sure where that came from. Let me know what you guys think about the situation, and did the Clippers push away Brand because they didn't want to fork over the money, as is almost always the case with the Clips?

Elton just really wanted to get out of LA, that was the impetus for the move

Where do you get that from?

Don Sterling is good for low-balling contract figures. You dont let a player such as Brand go. You seal it with a new contract, extension something. They offered 70 million then afterthe Philly deal, they offered 87 to 90. Why not offer that from the start. Then the clippers coach wasnt to optimistic about the owners decision either. Brand and Davis are not close, just bond NBA players have. Nothing special. Might have pondered on the idea of linking up, nothing more. This is a business folks. You either go somewhere for the $$$$, or where you will be appreciated. Its a way of life.

That's what the ESPN article was talking about, that Falk just reiterated that the Clips effed up the contract negotiations from the start.
