End of the Line for the Spurs Dynasty?

Not only have the Lakers played the fewest games of all the remaining NBA Playoff teams, the arthritic Spurs were stuck on their charter plane last night. I have been in awe of the Spurs, and what they've accomplished over the last 10 years has been amazing: Made the Playoffs every year since Duncan was drafted, 4 NBA Titles, continual upgrades of their role players, and perhaps the best coach in the game. But tonight could be the beginning of the end of the line. Kobe's finally figured out how to make others around him better and is hungry to prove he can win without Shaq. Odom and Gasol represent great #2 and #3 options, and they too have strong role players. They play great defense, and they also have one of the best coaches in the game. I'm not ready to predict anything until the teams take the floor, but this Series is going to be amazing. That's a guarantee.

The Spurs will probably lose the series, but as long as their core stays intact (Tim Duncan still has at least a few great years left) they are only a couple of role players away from winning again - so I say they probably lose to the Lakers but the Dynasty still lives until Duncan/Parker/Ginobli/Bowen get broken up.

They said the Spurs would lose to the Suns and the Hornets. I wouldn't write them off until after the first two games.

Thank you FIVE. I'm watching now and, even though its only halftime, it doesn't look much like the end of the line for the Spurs. Getcha some, Lakers.

Well, that road trip and delay probably got to the Spurs at the end of the game, huh? They were flat in the second half and Ginobli couldn't hit the broad side of a barn. They had the Lakers on the ropes and let them off the hook. I think the Lakers got the message that it's not going to be a cake walk for them though.

Agreed. Even though I took the Lakers all the way to the finals, you KNOW I love me some Spurs. So my heart was just a little broken. Didn't really understand that play to tie the game, either. Why were they going for the '3'? And why did it all seem so rushed when they had the entire game clock left?

And a 3 by Ginobli who was as cold as ice in that game. They had time for another pass or two, for sure.

The dynasty cont. bring on hoever you no?

???

Thumbs up, Wiggie, even though I had to translate.

The arthritic and tired Spurs are handling themselves quite well up to halftime. Don't count them chickens yet, especially if they win this game 1.

Hope the Lakers advance to the finals - even if the Spurs lose tonight, they're not beaten yet. 3:0 is necessary to say: "Okay, we almost got it!"
But I feel good for tonight, Lakers can take that game, they're not underestimating the Spurs. I like that.
