Final Repercussion of the Brawl: A Terrible Trade

Why should Sixers GM Billy King be thanking Isiah Thomas right now? Come see why the Iverson trade was incredible for the Sixers and is going to put the Nuggets on the path to mediocrity. When Iverson suits up, the Knicks and Nuggets may have a lot more in common than you think!

Gonna have to disagree that the trade was incredible for the Sixers. If the Nuggets make the playoffs with AI all they really received was minimal cap relief, an overpaid point guard and two end of the 1st round draft picks where you're not going to get a superstar. In addition getting Miller and Smith at this point in the season will get them a few extra wins that they don't need in the hunt for Greg Oden. I think it's a bad deal for everyone.

Solid trade for the Sixers...

Keep in mind that King and the Sixers now have the possiblity of packaging at least two of those picks to move up in the draft. Hell, if they think that Oden will change the game enough, they could package all 3. With this year's draft, getting 2 or 3 in return for your top 5 pick and another player wouldn't be that bad of a move.

Why do all trades need instant verdicts on who got the better end of the deal the second they happen? There's an infinite number of scenarios that can play out from this trade, I'd rather just wait and see how the teams gel. A few years back, everyone thought bringing Rasheed Wallace into the fold was a blasphemous move for the Pistons and that deal turned out ok.

Because sports analysts would go out of business if they couldn't analyze things before they happened. And for the record, statistically it would seem almost impossible for the two to be able to share the ball without dramatic shifts in both of their games.

I didn't say anything about analysis. I just get frustrated when commentator X says "Nuggets got the better end." or "Sixers came out on top" when it's all opinion and speculation.

I don't think their games have to change that much. J.R. Smith is averaging just under 4 shots less a game than Iverson. I think the transition for the Nuggets will smoother than most think.

That's a really well-done article. SlackerSports is BAAAAAALLLIIIIIIIIIIN! I do have to say that the Nuggets are going to have way too many tattoos in their starting lineup.

dumbest thing i've read on the subject to date.
