Game, set, match.

David Stern, you got your wish.

The Spurs are gone, and now the Pistons have joined them.

What an exciting NBA Finals it will be! Surely, a feel-good story featuring a team that has risen from the ashes and a team that is just finding its niche- and with everyone's favorite MVP!

Just like old times, right? Celtics and Lakers at it once again, after all these years. Since the Pistons have already played the Lakers in the Finals and everyone is sick of seeing the Spurs, I guess it really was time for a change in scenery.

Undoubtedly, the ratings will soar. You'll be a very rich man, David! Maybe so many people will watch the Finals that that Tim Donaghy mumbo jumbo will just kind of slip from their memories.

This is what needed to happen to get the NBA back on its feet. I understand.

Besides, who wants to watch any more playoff games with those two boring teams that always seem to linger around? Who would want to watch that, other than the pure die-hards in Detroit in San Antonio?

No David, it's all about the story, right? I mean think of the reaction! Boston! In the Finals! They made it! After all the struggle in years past, they traded their whole team away and made it all the way solely on the efforts of three people. From worst to best! What sports fan in their right mind will be able to flip past that?

Who wouldn't want to watch a washed-up flopping "superstar" and two franchise players that collectively abandoned their teams and their fans for a fatter paycheck and a better shot at winning.

But we don't hear about that do we? Nope, we hear about how much effort these guys went through to start a "band of brothers" that gave up so much to be together, happily ever after.

I can't imagine how much emotional pain and anguish Kevin Garnett must have had to overcome to pick up that pen and John Hancock a contract to cash in $72,408 every quarter ($23,750,000 overall). How can you not give your utmost respect to such a team player? I mean, it must have killed him to leave Minnesota.

But hey, what happens happens. We can't turn back time now.

Anyways, why would we want to?

Pistons fans once again left their arena early during game 6. What a disgrace. Are they that spoiled that they desert their team at crunch time or is it they're just terrible fans. Finally there is an NBA championship that interests people. Great job Celts and Beat L.A.

The pistons fans leaving before the game was over was a smack in the face to the team. They should of stayed and given the Pistons their due. A hard fought season ends for them and their crowd is gone. They can shove their thunderstix up their ass.

whats wrong with the lakers celts it wasnt like they upset any team since they came into the playoffs as the top seed..this is just sourgraping for those spurs and pistons and whoever fans, hey your team had their chances and they didnt come through ..forget all the conspiracy theories otherwise why would the spurs win four rings in 10 years even if they bored everybody to death, the answer is they were just that good..just like the celts and lakers are this GOOD, be thankfull that the TOP 2 teams are facing each other in the finals and that they are both exciting teams...no conspiracy in this one they are both deserving heres to an exciting finish...

GO LAKERS!!!

Go lakers

David Stern always gets what he wants. The NBA is orchestrated by David Stern and it's continuous not just during the playoffs. From the draft to the finals. And he is committed to making big bucks. Where there is big money there is corruption, no doubt. What makes the NBA any different, it happens in our government. Just watch it for what it is, like watching a good movie. Entertainment. Why did the conference finals end last night and we are waiting until Thursday to start the finals. TV. The arenas have to schedule around the TV schedule. As far as boring the only exciting thing about the finals will be Kobe. The Celtics are boring.

Get some sleep. You got to get up in the morning and get a job. Don't watch basketball. Your team didn't make it again. It's just ABC again. ANOTHER BOSTON CHAMPIONSHIP.

In a strange way im glad its Celtic Lakers even though we kinda know the league had a say in it. More revenue good long term

I know. Did you notice how much the Celts opponents outshot them from the line. The refs didn't want a Boston-LA rematch. They screwed the Celts and they still got in. Nice job boyfwen.

i agree.
you know the refs had somethin
to do with it also...

As much as the fouls went against the Celts they still got in. The refs tried so hard to keep the Celts out but they prevailed anyway. Great job Celts.

Did you even watch the games? It seemed like every other minute my jaw dropped at some phantom Sheed or Dyess foul... and Paul Pierce driving to the hoop- getting zero contact but still looking like he slipped on a banana peel or something.
It's just a circus out there- that's all it has become.

Why didn't the league think of this twenty years ago. The refs could have called the games all year and it could have been Celtics-Lakers for the last twentyone years. Yeah that's the ticket. That's how it became a Celts-Lakers match in 2008. The refs fixed it. Give me a break.

Yeah, that wouldn't be suspicious...

I'm sure it is a great big conspiracy. Obviously the better team didn't win or anything. Clearly it isn't the Pistons fault that they were beat. It must be someone else's fault. No sour grapes here.

I don't think Kevin Garnett is the only one making money in the league or leaves for a new contract with MORE money. How rediculous you sound. Totally bitter. Get over it. Your team lost, and actually it isn't EVEN YOUR team. It is not a reflection on yourself when they lose, but you may just be a loser, and that might hurt more then the Pistons losing. Trust me, they are not losers. BUT YOU ARE!!!

Well, I appreciate the kind words.
When I speak of the Pistons as "ours" and "we", I speak from a fan perspective. When someone devotes as much time to one team as I do, you begin to take them in as your own. I apologize if I'm bitter, but usually most people are when their team loses.
And when did I ever say that KG was the only one making money? All NBA players are making way more than they ever should, and I accept that. But Minnesota fans adored KG, he was the face of the franchise, and he leaves at the drop of a hat when some high-ball offer comes in from the Boston rendition of the Dream Team.
I think I remember Ben Wallace doing something quite similar.

You guys still use thunderstix. As an NBA fan that is unforgivable.
