Hawaii

I just got into Hawaii today, and it is different out here but it's beautiful. The people are really nice. While driving to the hotel i got to see some of the land and here in Kona, a lot of the land is freshly made from lava... it kind of freaks me out. They said that the island is always getting bigger because there is an active volcano. The Villa i have has 3 bedrooms, a kitchen and like 4 living rooms. It's pretty big and it has a pool and a spa that's heated. The only thing is that there is no food in the refrigerator. I got to go grocery shopping tonight.

Hawaii is always if of the chain. Have fun and relax, because you need armor for war next year.

you should get some pic up of the villa ? I know with villa that big, you took peeps with you. who traveled with ya ?

Have a good stay. My only recommendation is swimming and sunning on Ka'anapali Beach (in Maui). Phenomenal.

Get some sun, and enjoy your time in Hawaii. Make sure to spend at least a little bit of time in Portland during the summer. Contrary to popular belief, Portland has great summer, it's just that the other 9-10 months are rainy.

Greg, I hope you do spend sometime here in Oregon this summer. We have some very beautiful places to go to see and the weather is usely really nice. If you get a chance go to crater lake it is beautiful up there. Hope you have a wonderful summer.

Hey Greg enjoy the summer- can't wait to see you play next year!! I had a chance to see you play at Michigan Last year when you guys came from behind and dominated!! The coolest part about that game though was that my brother and I were right by the tunnel and you came over and talked with us (But the disgruntled security guard wouldn't let you sign our Thad 5 ticket stub) ! Thanks for an awesome moment though and don't ever change man.. Hoping to see you when you come to Detroit next year to play the Pistons.

Oh wonderful mai tai's. Best in Hawaii. Kona is pretty cool. There are only a few white sand beaches, but the ones they have are nice. It's a real chill place, isn't it Greg? Everyone seems pretty happy with life in Hawaii.

Check out some ladies at the beach for me... ;)

Greg,
Enjoy Hawaii. It is by far one of the most beautiful places in the world. Just north of Kona about a 20 minute drive is a beautiful beach with waves perfect for body surfing. That lean frame of yours should make a nice board. You should GO FOR IT!! And, please stay away from the MaiTais. Alcohol is not all that it is cracked up to be.

Aloha Greg. Stay healthy and enjoy your summer.

Have fun! Say hi to tominhawaii if you see him!

Greg-
You should head up to Waimea Mountains. They have real nice horseback riding. Are you gonna check out the active Volcano at all? I drove from Kona to Hilo, supposedly Hawaii has 11 of the 13 World Climates, everything except for arctic and extreme sahara. Anyways, hang loose in da Islands!

Greg, STAY OFF THE HORSES! Look, take a picture if you like but DO NOT ride a horse.
I can see the head lines now,

Yea I can see the pic now too... His feet dragging the ground! priceless. haha

Bike those hills G.O!! get that knee strong so next year we are the ones dominating the playoffs!

Hawaii's a beautiful place. I went to O'ahu 3 years back. I can't wait to go back.

Head out to Punalu'u by the valcano - there is a black sand beach. It's incredible! And there are turtles everywhere.
You also need to do the night dive - or snorkel - they take you out to a bay with manta rays! (they are completely harmless)
Check out Neptune Charlies - http://neptunecharlies.com/
They also do a dolphin dive which is cool but the mantas are unreal. you gotta try it.

clicked on yer link, said the time in kona was 7:15 am and the water 71, ahhhhhhh so want to be there right now, like gettin ready to go snorkeling in those pristine waters. ENJOY Greg, next year at this time hopefully your blazers r movin into the @nd round

2nd round oooops, still thinkin bout being in that water!!!

I wish I could of snorkeled at Haunauma Bay, but I was sick the whole trip. Flu like sympotms 2 days before and after the trip for a total of 9 days.

I'm probably your biggest fan in the world, but I know that I am definitely your biggest fan in Nepal. Can't wait for you guys to get it done next year and for you to earn your nickname-- The Blocksmith.

Hey Greg, work on your offensive game this Summer. Shoot to become the next Olajuwon, not Mutombo.

Peace!

maybe a sky-hook like the one of the greatest of all-times Mr. Kareem Abdul-Jabar

I can't wait until you are healthy and ready to play ball.

"Let's GO BLAZERS!"

Go easy on the Kona coffee. That stuff is way strong. Best tasting coffee out there, but you'll realize the difference in caffeine levels....

Say Hello to TominHawaii, Greg.

Hey Greg!! Stay Healthy!! Good Luck next year! Hey The Big Island Is nice!, but if you get a chance take a $70 Flight to Kawaii For afew days. It is the Oldest Island and the most Lush and Beautiful. The Big Island Is beautiful in its own way, but there is a lot more Dirt and Rock there. Kawaii is the place they filmed Jurassica Park and LOST! Some of the Most Beutiful Beaches in the world are there. Just Incredible. The local people are Awesome! Make Sure you stop By Bubba's Burgers Too. Really good and all the Celebs know to go there. You will see posters of all the People that stopped by. Enjoy the time in Pardise! Don't spend too much time on the computer!!

Its not "Kawaii" its Kauai and its not the oldest island, and they don't film lost there, they film it in Oahu
you just came to my school to work out and Im sure you like the big island alot

Hey Oden how u doin? Have a nice vacation there in Hawaii! :D

hang loose

TORTURE! Thanks a lot GO... it's dark outside with 'looks like rain' as a hail storm just passed over. Sunshine and warm, tropical weather? (pouting at my desk job under lame flourescent lights...) ;0) ENjOY!

Make sure to hit the Hilton Waikoloa Village and do the DolphinQuest program...it's awesome. And parasail! Or just do nothing! :)

Hey greg. Ive never been to Hawaii so I don't have any travel tips, but I hear they have beaches there. Beaches are nice. Hawaii is alot like oregon, except I don't think it snows in late April there. Enjoy your offseason. Laaaaate.

"Hawaii is a lot like Oregon"

That's a good one!

yea i was definitely being sarcastic

It just snowed like 4 days ago

Aloha Greg. I'm a local Portlander and a HUGE fan of the Blazers. Can't wait to see you play next year!!! I was fortunate enough to get a job offer out here on Oahu and get to travel between the islands quite a bit. I can tell you that Hawaii is NOTHING like Portland!!!! The big Island is pretty chill....really, really laid back. If you are looking for white sandy beaches and the same laid back atmosphere go fly over to Kauai for a couple days. I hope you brought your slippers.

~SHOOTS~

Are you down there with Sergio? I thought I read that he was headin down there too.

Welcome to Hawaii. The Big Island is really nice. If you get the chance, I highly recommend Cafe Pesto. They have one in Hilo, but I think there's one in Kona as well. Really good food. I think the Big Island is my favorite of all the islands. If you're doing physical training, it might not be a bad idea to check out some of the tropical botanical gardens. I saw one on the coast north of Hilo that's practically built into the hillside, so it'll be a little workout. It's a nice, quiet place.

One more thing: NEVER come to Oahu. It'll destroy your vision of Hawaii.

Yeah never go to Oahu, unless you like the best night life, entertainment, girls, food. Basically if your trying to stay isolated and not have fun, stay away from Oahu. If your trying to have a good time, Oahu is the place to be

Yeah, I live here. You can do all that, but you can do that in a lot of American cities (Miami, Vegas, LA, NY...). Apparently that's all there is that's fun. :p It's not the best at those things, but it's not too bad. If only those things were all that mattered.

Yep I live here too! I can tell you for a single up and coming basketball star that IS all that matters.....oh wait a minute.....I thought this was Zach Randolphs blog! DAMNIT!!!!!

What is Hawaii not america now???

Hey everyone check out Greg's Myspace: Myspace.com/gregoden and add him as a friend to show your support.

Wishing you a great time in the islands, continued support for your rehab and staying in touch in the Yard. You might do a search on Hawaiian music starting with Israel Kamakawiwo'ole and Keali'i Reichel. See what you think. A native Hawaiian friend told me about the old Hawaiian culture before the English explorers arrived.

Hey Greg, I lived in the islands for 17 years here are a few things you need to check out.
First off go on the 'Flumin Da Ditch' tour which takes you on a floating raft through a sugar cane aquaduct system very relaxing. Second hit up one of the black sand beaches very cool. Third drive to the top of Mauna Kea ~13700 FT and see the telescopes. Last but not least is visit Volcano's National Monument =) but spend a night in Hilo so you dont have to drive back and make it a super long day. Food wise make sure you go to the best plate lunch places and just so you know lilikoi drinks rock and Haupia is the bomb. Hope you enjoy your trip and get a chance to see Honolulu before you go back. If you do go to Oahu you MUST see Haunama Bay and the Arizona Memorial.
Aloha,
Robert

Go to Honaunau Beach. About a half hour south of Kona. Interesting historically, as it is the Hawaiian "Place of Refuge" and it has the best snorkeling in the islands. Better than Molokai.
Mauna Kea is very nice, but a long way from Kona. BlazerRob forgets to mention that you cannot take a rental car on the Saddle road...so if you do that, don't tell or call your rental company.
I lived in Hilo for a while...it's much different than Kona...think more lush Hawaii, not so much lava rock over on that side of the island.
Most of all...enjoy it!

I agree about the Honaunau Beach area. The part we liked is really a rocky ledge, sometimes called Two Step. As you face the ocean it is to the right of the historic area. It is also fun to take the catamaran the Fairwind out of Kona to go snorkeling in Kealakekua Bay. Ahhh. Also, Kahulu'u Beach can be nice, south of Kona, for snorkeling and part of the beach is good for surfing--some companies offer beginner's lessons there. My kids, both good athletes, said it was one of the hardest things they had ever tried! Have a great time.

Let me know how it is G.O.

I was in Kona a couple days ago too, right now I'm vacationing in Maui with my family. Glad to hear that you're enjoying yourself.
:]

Hey make sure you pick up some Pepper Cd's if you don't already have them. Good music and they're from Kona town. Have fun G

GO......whats up with the front of the "Select A seat Open house" brochure sent out to the season ticket holders?
You look huge.......please stay off the roids.

This summer will be enjoyable 100% of the time even if something bad happens as long as I can say that I can see Greg Oden join the blazers next season... Can't wait.
