Lakers' Bynum to undergo surgery on injured knee

Andrew Bynum has been out for the entire second half of the NBA season with a gruesome knee injury that at first was expected to keep him out a max of 8 weeks. However, 4 months later the news comes in that arthroscopic surgery is required. Bynum will be out for the remainder of the season (duh) and most of the summer. How much will this affect the young and burgeoning center?

That was pretty crazy that they thought they'd have him back for the Playoffs.

Never the same any athlete whose had a kneee injury will tell ya........hope it dont effect his career too much

WTH were they waiting on?

I was SO HOPING they would be able to get him back on track without going to this length. :-( Very sad. All I can say is that I know he'll be great since he's so young & so talented> Hell, if the Lakers can stick with (who I deem to be) worthless Chris Mihm all season and choke him out $2.5M to sit the bench and look pretty, surely they'll boost Drew's salary and say "We're with ya kid, we'll get you better."

I guess they were waiting to see if it got better without surgery...guess not!

trying to avoid the dreaded knee surgey at all costs

Yea bc look at guys like McDyess who has never been the same player after surgery

uh huh uh uhu ya
