i think A.I. is a great person for Melo to be around after getting into this trouble...Iverson has been there done that, not with DUI, but Iverson has been thru his share of difficulties as well (most were family related, as Melo mentioned it was a family problem that led hiim to drive that nite)...anyways, IVerson has grown up sigficantly since coming into tha league & he will be a great mentor to help Melo get through this...AND i expect them to grow together as a team thru all this & stun the lakers in round 1
GO NUGGETS!!!!!

I have 2 DUIs, it is embarrassing to say the least. Way to step up & apologize, let's hope for your own sake that you truly mean it.

... oh, and I neglected to mention that I did not learn my lesson from either of my 2 times getting pinched. I have since learned it - moral of the story is, you have the world in your hands - be smart, always smart. Learn from your mistakes and you become a true superstar.

Dude, what were you thinking? Its a shame, and thats pretty much what all endorsment deals will say, along with good bye your a hazard to our image. i don't approve of or condone what you did - it is incredibly dangerous and a person of your status can always have someone drive for you.

however, there's nothing more you can do except apologize, so good luck in that aspect and i hope you make better decisions next time.

There's a lot to celebrate. Keep the celebration going, keep the good things going. Just remember in basketball you believe in going at it, but it's all in competition and fun. Same thing in life, you can celebrate and deservedly so, but play it safe and play it smart. Hey man, I celebrated after the Sunday game too, but after the bidn'ss of driving was over with. Keep your head held high and do what you do best (play basketball)!! Put the negative attention into your game. Your fans are supportive of you and we realize that we all make or have made mistakes and we learn from them. It's probably tough because your mistakes are a made into a public affair by the media and you are under much more scrutiny than everyone else. The media should give equal amount of attention to all the good things you have done.

All I have to say is that it takes a big man to apologize in writing to all of your family and fans. That says a lot about what kind of person you are. Stay clean. Thanks.

Forget being a distraction or the position you're in. Just learn. Please, please, please learn from this. I had two friends killed by a drunk driver. Basketball will be the furthest thing from your mind if you ever get behind a wheel and take a life. That's a lot of weight to carry around your heart. You seem like a nice dude. So, don't let that happen to you. Apology accepted. Just promise you'll learn.

I do agree we all make mistakes and that it's lucky nobody got hurt... But I don't think "wrong place, wrong time" qualifies in this case. Usually that only works when the person is innocent.

I'm a bit confused why people here are saying you made a "mistake". It's not like you accidentally got drunk and decided to get behind the wheel. You're lucky you didn't kill someone. Thankfully there aren't many people out at 4 a.m. Otherwise, it could have ended up a lot worse.

I get accidentally drunk all the time..Whoops! too many beers..Fortunately, I hate driving anywhere, and I always make everyone else drive me around so I have never had this problem. Gettiing older and understanding your actions also has a lot to do with this type of infraction. It definitley is wrong, and he should be punished. Unfortunately, any "punishment" they give is not really going to hurt except for the bad press. 1 st dui means LOTS of money to lawyers and fees. Melo has the cash so this is really not going to affect him all that much in that department. Hopefully th ebad press shows him the wrongfulness in his action.
