Here's the roster:
Guards: Kobe Bryant, Dwyane Wade, Chris Paul, Deron Williams, Jason Kidd and Michael Redd
Forwards: LeBron James, Carmelo Anthony, Tayshaun Prince and Carlos Boozer
Centers: Dwight Howard and Chris Bosh
I like the team, but I think I'd replace Jason Kidd with a player who can actually shoot the ball. Michael Redd and Carmelo Anthony are the only consistent shooters on the roster; the rest of the perimeter guys are streak shooters. If you're wondering why Amare Stoudemire isn't on the team, he withdrew from consideration over concerns about pushing his body too hard.
My guess is that the Olympics are the perfect distraction for Kobe, who is probably losing sleep at night thinking about the Lakers' loss in the Finals. There's nothing to take your mind off of that quite like flying to China and taking your game to the world stage.
If I'm Pat Riley, I don't know how excited I am about seeing my injury-prone franchise player on this team.
