The Spurs Aren't Dead Yet

In recent days it seems like everyone has come not to praise the San Antonio Spurs but to bury them but their 110-99 game three win over the New Orleans Hornets on Thursday suggested that such funeral plans are very premature. Spurs Coach Gregg Popovich resorted to his tried and true tactic whenever things look dire for his team: he shifted Manu Ginobili from the bench to the starting lineup, changing the matchups and rotations for both teams.

Don't mess wit Manu. Was a good win, but they still have to steal a game in N.O. and I don't think that's a gonna happen.

The Spurs still can't guard Chris Paul. And live fiverings said, until they win a road game this isn't a series.

I think the Spurs could be lucky to win the next one at home, much less at N.O. If the Spurs lose the next home game, they are toast.

I agree that game four is a must win for the Spurs and I also agree that the Spurs can't guard Paul--at least in the sense that they probably cannot stop him from scoring 25-30 points--but if they keep Parker on him and use Bowen to essentially shut out Peja then the Spurs can win even if Paul gets 25-30. The problem for opposing teams is when Paul gets 25-30 AND 15 assists.
