Video - Marvin Williams hardcore clotheslines Rajon Rondo

Is there any question about this foul warranting an ejection?

Yes, there is. Did Jason Kidd get ejected in his series? NO. Williams held that kid and kept his head from going splat on the damn hardwood. It was a very hard foul, but it wasn't as bad as what other players have done and gotten away with.

Just because the other players didn't get ejected doesn't mean Williams shouldn't have been. It just means that Kidd should have been too.

The definition of a flagrant 2 is unnecessary & excesive contact. I don't think there is any question about it meeting both of those criteria - whether or not they called it against another player in another game is a moot point.
I think Kidd did get ejected though if I'm not mistaken.

No, it means instead of getting caught up in the moment, which the refs did, call the game fairly. The foul did not cause bodily harm and did not incite a fight on the court. Intentional with intent to harm would be a flagrant 2 and an ejection. But if he intended to harm the guy he would have thrown himself at him without trying to catch him and would shown no care for the other players well being. He caught Rondo, grabbed him and held him. not getting ejected would have been the correct call. Don't get caught up in the commentators and the dumb fans booing. Their the home crowd. Of course their gonna boo. But i you watch it closely, then you'll see the difference. If that is ejection worthy, then KG setting a screen by throwing his shoulder into Zaza Pachulias jaw should have been a flagrant foul because that wasn't a basketball move either. If KG has pads on and is on a football field, some of us would call that a sick block. But he wasn't and it wasn't, so the refs have blown another one.

I'm pretty clear on what a flagrant 2 is. Just in case you need clarification, this is directly from nba.com,

"b. If contact committed against a player, with or without the ball, is interpreted to be unnecessary and excessive, a flagrant foul--penalty (2) will be assessed."

And like I said - them not calling it in another circumstance does not change the rule.

A rule is a rule though and Williams executed poorly. I didn't think he intended to cause bodily harm but the clothesline appearance didn't help him. Oh well. Celtics fan here but I'd have to agree on the KG screen with Zaza, although it was subtle. The poor f*** wasn't looking forward (although I think when you are running you kind of should), so he caught a bad one. I can't blame KG though, he'd had enough of him throughout the series and probably had the fresh Rondo/Williams flagrant in mind when it happened.

Williams never intended to hurt Rajon... as he later said, he is good friends with Rondo, so he wouldnt have done such a thing. Seeing rajon fall like that was unbearible.. but i dont think that Williams meant to do that on purpose.

They were losing by +20 when that happened in the 3rd quarter, so i dont think he would have done that to help his team either.

GO CELTICS!!

U bogus for wat u did to him u was probably just mad cause they was winning u sore loser wit yo ugly self rondo was strong and should've jawwed yo ugly self that why he's more man than you'll ever be!!!!!!!
