WE NEED A PG! Who the Knicks should take with the 6 pick

Considering that the Knicks new coach requires it, and the Knicks haven't had one since Doc Rivers, it is critical that we draft a Point Guard this year. Most of the draft experts agree with this notion. Here is a look at the strengths and weaknesses of the two that will most likely be around when the Knicks have to make their selection...

good points and funny haircutisms...but I think Knicks are more in need of someone who plays D than a PG or SG. Offensively Knicks can score and with D"Antoni as coach we be scoring in the 100's with who we have. But our problems lie on the defensive end more than anything... CUrry doesnt play no defense, Randolph doesnt either and maybe Knicks should bring some competition so the fatso's actually work harder on defense. From watching almost all the games last year, the Knicks defense was in disarray with so many easy layups and the Frontman being too slow to defend the shot. Knicks should draft ROY HIBBERT from the HOYas not Kevin Love or the Lopez bums....But I wouldnt be surprised if the KNicks get another offensive minded player.

If you like D, then you should like Westbrook who is NBA ready on the defensive end of the floor even at the ripe age of 19...on the offensive end of the floor he is AAU ready...perimeter defense has been a problem for the knicks the last 10 years...I like Hibbert, but if we want him maybe we can trade Curry, and the 5th pick for a player with less money owed to him and like the 15-20 round pick and Hibbert will still likely be available, Hibbert, not so great on offense in college, wouldn't have much of a chance in the NBA in my opinion but he will get 2-4 blocks a game...I agree with not drafting Love (a bootleg version of David Lee) or the sideshow Bob twins who will get eaten alive in the NBA, Paul Millsap would drop 30 on either or both of those Dueffy kids

Roy Hibbert????? He's hot garbage! You think he would fit into D'Antoni's run and gun style? Not only could he not score on mugsy bogues in the post, he's a weak defender. He was exposed as a stiff this year on a team that was supposed to feature him. If he's so good on defense why did he foul out against Davidson (no bigs) after 16 minutes of play with 6 points and 1 board. Terrible performance.

Russel Westbrook has amazing athleticism, great on D, and huge potential on offense. I think he'd be a great fit.

Why wont the Knicks just dump salaries especially bums like Jerome James, Malik Rose, Randolph Morris, Jared Jeffries and Quittin Richardson.

Chandler, Balkman, Robinson, Collins, Lee and Fred Jones were solid last year-->give credit to Mr. Clueless Isiah Thomas here...

Marbury-->enigmatic player, hilarious comments yet one of best all around guards still in the league..Problem is winning isnt a priority

Crawford--> People still say he chucks up shots, obviously they didnt watch him Play last year.. He is my favorite Knick though so I prob be bias..I think he should shoot the most out of anyone out there especially the fact that his ball handling ability is far superior to majority of NBA.

Two Fatsos--> Randolph and Curry--a disgrace to defense!!! but offensively they legit, just sad how the refs always call offensive fouls on Eddy Curry for being to fat and strong,,Randolph doesnt pass the ball at all.

The Draft--> Walsh has drafted some good players, Rik Smits, Reggie Miller, Chuck Person, Jamal Tinsley, Antonio and Dale Davis and some bums Erick Dampier, Jonathen Bender, Primoz Brezec..But with the Knicks I dont know what hes going to do as well as what D'antoni wants. But as said before I wouldnt be surprised if it is another offensive minded player. Im also hearing that David Lee might be included in a deal which is upsetting to hear for the 5th pick. I agree with the evaluations yall made on the players youve said But I dont think we need OFFense from what I saw last year...We need Defense, Last time we were good, Knicks palyed Defense and were loaded with Big Guys (Camby, Ewing, Kurt Thomas, Chris Dudley yea Chris Dudley, who ever would think Knicks make playoffs with Chris Dudley on the team)...Anyways cant w8 for the draft...

I'm not sure what you mean by dump salaries. This isn't the NFL. Contracts in the NBA are guaranteed and the only way out of them is to pay the contracts off.

Roy Hibbert is a stiff. He's terrible on offense and he's not athletic enough to do anything on defense. He can't run the floor and would be a terrible fit on the Knicks. My opinion of Hibbert is that he's a poor man's Jarron Collins and will be out of the league in a few years.

If you want to go defense the best bet is Russell Westbrook. He's NBA ready on defense and has lots of upside on offense. He's a team player. He's CRAZY athletic and will throw down a few WOW dunks a game. If the Knicks have the opportunity to draft him and don't I will be extremely disapointed.

I think Mark Jackson was a legit point guard. Much more so than Doc Rivers! The Knicks DO NOT need a point guard, Marbury is more than adequate. Crawford and Nate backing him up will suffice. There is a nice little rotation there. Collins can be thrown into the mix as well. What they NEED is a defensive/rebound minded big man! Period end of strory. Curry is an oxygen thief. He and Randolph gotta go! At almost any cost. The rumored deal of trading down and getting Evans from Philly is absurd though.

I'd trade Curry and Randolph for a bag of used 15 dollar Marbury shoes worn by PS 117...Crawford Ideally should be a SG not a PG, Marbury may be Adequate AT BEST, but we need to think about the future and Steph is getting up there, either way nice comment

I'd trade all three of those bums and start over if it was possible. At least we only have one more year of Marbury. I can't see us resigning that bad apple...I hope! I'd like to see him be the highest paid peanut vendor at MSG. People could let him know how much they appreciated all his teamwork and dedication these last few years and if he didn't show up we'd dock his pay.

Isiah f'ed everything up and the team hated playing last year. Let's see if we can't get competative and maybe Curry and Randolph will see a reason to put in some effort?...I hope!

Maybe you need a PG but at the same time the knicks need EVERYTHING you have to take the best avaiable player at 6 or trade. I think the italian kid ganialli (spelled totally wrong) is the best choice. He ran the point till he grew 6 inches last summer he's the playmaker and creater the Knicks need.

not me...please

As a fellow Knick fan myself although we do need some D that's never been D'Antoni's Mo so i hope ya wrong because I don't want Hibbert or Westbrook here for the sixth pick. I would love for Mayo to fall to us because he's fits a need, he's the best player other than Rose and Beasley and he plays D and wants to be great. If that doesn't happen which it prolly won't I would try hard to trade down with the Nets or the Blazers since the Nets have 2 first-rounders and want to make a move and the Blazers can't possibly keep all those picks especially since they have the #27 pick now. I would also try hard to trade Randloph for anything I would take Brian Cardinal for him lol. Westbrook seems too much like Antonio Daniels to me I wouldn't draft him no higher than #11

@pdrudder i like the rumored deal between the knicks and sixers they can have Randloph and we will finally get some toughness and be able to add the best available player with the 76ers pick maybe Batum or Chalmers or somebody like that

I think Randolph has more value than having to trade down AND take Evans The new deal of giving up a real nice player like D Lee is VERY exciting! Cardinal is a stiff, but is probably better than Rose. We would then have two picks back to back. That would give the new regime the opportunity to build around "their guys". Cardinal's contract is two years remaining so no real danger there. We then could make another deal getting rid of Curry and getting a real center. Marbury should be playing for a contract and he is gone next year. Live with him for one more season. I say do anything we can to make the Memphis deal. Elton Brand is interesting as well. Also despite public opinion to the contrary, Artest could really fit here for the right money. He plays defense......who covers LeBron, Jefferson, Prince? Certainly not Q RIchardson. Imagine getting rid of Curry and Q Richardson and relpacing them with Brand and Artest. It makes the Knicks playoff contenders immediately. The Memphis deal could make that kind of thing a possibility

I'm not sold on this deal for the Memphis' pick. I understand the concept of out with the old and in with the new, but the two guys that we'd be giving away aren't the ones that we've had problems with. D-Lee shined when everything was going wrong and Malik Rose is the consumate professional. Even when things were going wrong he stayed positive and worked hard every day.
