Warriors Offer Gilbert Arenas Max contract !! WOW

I fell in love with the warriors back when baron first signed and it was him and j.rich running the show. first they shipped out j.rich, and now they immediately offer an injured over-ego'd gilbert arenas max money instead of paying baron what hes worth is simply disgusting. Hopefully the Warriors front office get their act together. or worst case scenario boom ends up somewhere he can get the respect he deserves!

I am as well. But Washington Post usually would be a good place to start. They probably really check out a lot of sources, and some just cannot be named. I take it to be legit though.

It does seem like a strange move though. Does he really improve a team more so then Boom or Monta? I mean if they give Monta more minutes then he could easily score like Arenas. Does not make much sense to me.

I don't think so. He is more injury prone than Baron.
Mullin has stated several times that he intends to build around Monta & Beidrins. I have full faith in Monta's scoring ability but as a whole player - a leader & a defender - he just isn't baron.

Its weird, I would say it looks like we have had fires with all the haze, we might be getting the southern winds pushing all the haze up here from you guys. Portland never looks smokey or this hazey, but it was crazy hot and humid the past couple of days.

We had the same thing in Sac. The sky was covered in smoke from last Monday to Saturday and because we're in a valley, it stayed. Looks like you're getting some of it now. Hope it clears up for you guys, it is weird.

Definitely some southern winds pushing the smoke from the California fires up to Portland. I was over in Mt. Scott a few days ago, could barely even see downtown there was so much haze. I'll be in Northern California in less than a month, I really hope things clear up.

Although I've taken a vacay from the Yard (needed to get my attitude together - the negativity was killing me) I agree with you, Brit. DON'T LEAVE GSWGirl! I'll jump on the thumbs up train if that will help you decide to stay.

Re: Arenas. I'm not sure Arenas and Monta are a good combo. They are very similar. The Warriors need a more blue-collar guard (like BD) that can be a little more physical so they can play together and not get housed by the bigger 2-guards.

Would you rather have Baron, Monte and no nelson...or Agent 0, monte and nelson? id take the 2nd option any day. One can argue back and forth between BD and 0 but when you add in the fact that Baron doesnt want to play for nelson and vice versa then i believe it is a good fit.

Yikes! What a crazy couple hours of free agency this year. I'd like to see Gilbert come back to the Warriors too, but will it be a good fit... still unsure. The fans will still love BD, but hopefully if he picks up the offer, GA will fill that big spot and leadership BD left behind.

To get down to the base level of my opinion is that Agent Zero honestly could not keep up. Monta is only good with Boom. Thats my honest opinion. I could see Monta going to a team like Memphis where he could flourish running with Mayo and Gay, but if he is not is a fast paced setup with a fast pg he will not flourish. Boom and Monta are like Batman and Robin. And who the hell would run the point in GS. Surely you cant expect Monta to run the point. And Arenas would be a waste at the point. Its too bad they cant boom an extension and sign Arenas. But from reports it looks like Arenas will most likely go back to Wiz, his man Jamison just got signed. And rumors are Arenas got offered a $124 Mil contract offer from the Wiz. Which to me is insane. Arenas to me is not a Max player, he is hurt to much and has the mentality that once he gets a contract he will stop trying. Max contracts should have some type of "Work Hard" Clause or "Performance Clause" if they dont meet certain requirements the team should not have to pay them that amount of money.

Its sad nothing has came from the Warriors, or at least we have not heard anything about offering Baron an extension. Because to me it would make sense to try to sign Baron on a smaller extension, then sign Monta to a Mid Level Extension, and sign Arenas to a max. See what they can do in two years time.

Monta has never played without Baron, really.
Now if they don't re-sign Monta then we will have a real problem.

there obviously are in the opposite in rebuilding mode if they are willing to give agent 0 a max contract.

I don't see Arenas signing with us since he agreed to resign with Washington if they resigned Jamison and they offered him more money. A total slap in the face to Baron so he's as good as gone to LA, I don't really blame him for that. I'd be pissed too.

I dont know man, Memphis has dough, and with Baron gone Monta might want to leave as well. Memphis is looking good for him, its close to his family, and they are a little more loose with their pocketbook. To me Monta is a bigger asset right now then Baron or Arenas, he is young and his ceiling is very high.

Monta is restricted and Mullin will not part with him, guaranteed.

If he honestly leaves will you all rebel against him ? I mean he has been a staple for the Bay. What do all you GSW fans do? I dont look at this like a rebuilding I look at it as a last prayer. That money should be for Monta and Baron, this western arm race is just silly, nothing good comes out of it.

and for a LOT of us it wasnt just about how he played or how cute he was to some of the girls or whatever, it was about his love and devotion to the bay and how he wanted to make a change in schools neighborhoods etc.

Awesome point man, and well put. Boom Dizzle is more then just basketball to that community, he is a leader and a positive role model for so many in the Richmond/Oakland area. I hope they can work something out for him. But when its all said and done he needs to do what is right for him. Nobody should give the guy crap, he can still be a positive figure in the bay and not live in the bay. Look at Gary Payton and Seattle.

i know i know.. but its the fact that he was always around, and most importantly the folks that had the most trouble out here would deal by coming to the games.
I mean im sure a lot of them will still come to watch the games.. but without him its gonna give them a sense of loss in their community if hes not around all the time to help.

Plus his family is in LA which is closer to the bay then any other city is....
