Warriors can lose another starting guard?

A person with knowledge of the situation said nine teams have made inquiries about Monta Ellis. The Miami Heat and Cleveland Cavaliers have shown the most interest. The Knicks, who are searching for point guard help, are not one of those teams, but a second source said the Knicks have been monitoring the situation. Warriors executive vice president Chris Mullin has maintained he intends to sign Ellis.

A person close to Ellis said the lightning-quick guard "would be very interested in the Knicks" and especially playing for Mike D'Antoni.

Ellis' agent, Jeff Fried, would not comment on the interest in his client from other NBA teams and said talks with the Warriors are ongoing. "We are continuing discussions," Fried replied in an e-mail. -- Newsday

Nice story, Come on Heat ,Bring Monta Eliis to MIAMI!!!!!!!

If the Warriors fail to keep Monta our future then Chris Mullin needs to be fired and should never ever handle any NBA teams transactions. I had a heart attack when Baron left. If Monta leaves I would just die.

Not to mention the fact that Mully traded out J.Rich! If Monta leaves, OMG. I'm sure that us Warrior fans would want his head on a pike and displayed on the bridge to show what happens to infidels.

How is that Mullin's fault... if Baron opts out for more money... and Monta leaves for more money...

Chances are... Mullin matches ANY offer put on Monta Ellis... unless it's max

DeMarcus Nelson hopefully will make the squad then

Now, *that's* the truth! However, there's no way Monta's going anywhere other than G-State.

hold on, we have the most cap room and hes restricted, if mullin wont match any offer he should get shot

how many bad things can happen to the warriors make in one offseason? sheesh. they need monta, otherwise they're gonna have quite a time.

yes, even though this is a long shot if the warriors lost monta...id first want to kill mullen then wonder why god hates warrior fans....monta is a great combo guard and has top 3 speed in the whole nba.

God doesnt hate Warrior fans, Don Nelson does, that's why your best player is gone unfortunately

ur point is very valid. his ego is bigger then...the milky way galaxy but without him we would still be in the playoff drought. hes the reason we are now slightly relevant to the outside world, and fun to watch. he also was the main person who pushed for and got al harrington and captain jack for dunleavy and murphy (which was a steal). but yes for all he built up, he is breaking down or...at least chipping away.

By my estimation, he's worth about $11 M to $12.5 M per season. I don't think anyone is going to offer him that this offseason, but the Warriors would be wise to lock him up before he has a monster season w/o Baron in town.
