Detroit Pistons Reportedly Make A Roster Move
USA TODAY Sports

Buddy Boeheim is coming off his rookie year, where he averaged 1.6 points per contest in ten regular season games for the  Detroit Pistons.

This summer, the 23-year-old became a free agent, but ESPN's Dave McMenamin (on Tuesday) reports that he will re-sign with Detroit.

Via McMenamin: "Buddy Boeheim is re-signing with the Detroit Pistons, his agent, Drew Gross of Roc Nation Sports, told ESPN. Boeheim appeared in 10 games with DET on a rookie two-way deal last year and 18 games with their G League affiliate, where he averaged 12.1 ppg on 37.4% from 3."

Boeheim initially went undrafted last summer after playing four seasons of college basketball for Cornell (three) and Syracuse (one).

In addition to his ten games in the NBA, he also played 35 games in the G League (18 regular season games and 17 Showcase Cup games).

Considering Boeheim is such a young player, and the Pistons are in rebuilding mode, he is an excellent player to take a chance on.

Over his college (and G League) career, he has proven to be a legitimate three-point shooter and will likely only improve over the next few seasons.

As for the Pistons, the franchise has been in rebuilding mode for several seasons and is coming off a year where they were the 15th seed in the Eastern Conference and had the worst record in the NBA (17-65).

They last made the NBA playoffs in 2019 when Blake Griffin and Andre Drummond were still on the roster.
