Pistons Make Two-Way Signing Following Recent Cuts

As the final stretch of the regular season begins, the Detroit Pistons have made some more roster moves. On Wednesday afternoon, they parted ways with Malcolm Cazalon. Now, reports have surfaced on who will be taking his place on the roster.

ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski reported Thursday that the Pistons and Buddy Boeheim have agreed on a multi-year two-way contract. Prior to this, he was playing for the team's G-League affiliate, the Motor City Cruise.

Boeheim, 24, is a 6-foot-6 forward who entered the league as an undrafted free agent. He is the son of legendary Syracuse head coach Jim Boeheim.

For the Motor City Cruise this season, Boeheim averaged 15.6 PPG, 3.8 RPG, and 1.9 APG. He also shot a stellar 43.8% from beyond the arc on nearly eight attempts per game.

This is not the first time Boeheim has had an opportunity to play for the Pistons. Last season, he appeared in 10 games at the NBA level. In that span, he averaged 1.6 PPG and 0.6 RPG.

On a two-way contract, Boeheim now has a chance to float between the NBA and G-League. As a team that struggles to space the floor effectively, the forward prospect could provide a lift in that area.

Before entering the NBA draft, Boeheim played four years of college basketball under his father at Syracuse. His best season came as a senior, when he averaged 19.2 PPG and shot 34% from deep on high volume.

As for the Pistons, they have their first game out of the All-Star break on Thursday night against the Indiana Pacers.
