San Antonio Spurs’ Victor Wembanyama Shows No Mercy To Kids During Viral Game
Scott Wachter-USA TODAY Sports

It’s no secret Victor Wembanyama has been a revelation during his rookie campaign in the NBA. The San Antonio Spurs star, though, took things to a new level when he dominated his young opponents in a children’s game recently.

Just recently, a video clip shared by Overtime’s official account surfaced on X. Wembanyama can be seen facing off against a couple of teenagers in a game. The Spurs star then demolished his opponents by slamming the ball to the basket and rejecting several shots along the way.

At this point in time, it’s not yet known whether Wemby was playing with other kids in a team or he’s facing them all singlehandedly. What’s certain, though, is that the French big man is doing a good job in dominating his opponents.

Since then, the video of Wembanyama going up against these kids has garnered 319,000 views. Furthermore, this is one of the first instances the San Antonio Spurs star has worn a shoe designed for him by Nike.

San Antonio Spurs Need To Build Better Around Victor Wembanyama Sooner Than Later

While there’s no doubt Wembanyama can beat kids half his size, the same can’t be said about opposing teams in the NBA. Even with his generational kind of talent housed in his body, the Spurs would do well by crafting a championship-worthy roster around this season’s Rookie of the Year.

Over the course of 71 games this season, Wembanyama averaged 21.4 points, 10.6 rebounds, 3.9 assists, 1.2 steals, 3.6 blocks per contest. He also shot 46 percent from the field, 32 percent from beyond the arc, and 79 percent from the free throw line.

The Spurs, on the other hand, finished the regular season with 22 wins and 60 losses. As a result, the franchise has ended up with the fourth and eighth pick in this year’s NBA Draft. It remains to be seen whether San Antonio uses those picks to select a pair of young rookies who ca work well with Wemby, or they’re packaged with existing assets to get a star. Either way, the front office will have to be very wise in using those picks.

It’s not yet known what moves San Antonio will make to surround Wemby with sufficient talent in the lineup. What’s definite, though, is that the front office has to act fast before their prized star becomes disgruntled.
