49ers Trade CB Rumph to Redskins for WR Jacobs
Matt Maiocco of the Santa Rosa Press-Democrat reports that the 49ers have traded former 1st round pick Mike Rumph for WR Taylor Jacobs. The embattled Rumph did not help his shaky case to make the team by missing four tackles in the Niners' 28-14 win against the Bears last Friday in the preseason opener.
Jacobs, a former 2nd round pick, was buried on the Redskins' depth chart at wideout. He has done little in three seasons with the team, with career totals of 30 receptions for 315 yards and a score. Maiocco is a longtime 49ers beat writer and one of the best in the business. This is a link to his blog at the Press-Democrat website, a consistent source of scoops concerning all things Niner.
