Are the Eagles drafting 2 fill their practice squad?

I mean besides Jackson why are we drafting these guys. A DT and a DE/OLB we have other needs. Yes DT is a litte thin but its not a die hard need. And a DE come on some one prove me wrong on that one.

I am thinking that is what they are doing...definately get jackson pick...and can understand the DT pick, but this last pick came out of left field...there was a safety (morgan), bennett wr from vandy that was still on the board that they supposedly liked, even higher ranked DE's...I dont understand it either...had high hopes for this weekend

what die hard needs do the eagles have???? and i'm talking die hard needs that can be filled through this draft! there aren't any, they need depth at all positions and that is what they are adding. The DE pick is a little odd to me, i agree, but still I think you are over-reacting a bit.

die hard need is the o-line 34year old RT and 33 year old LT. If you think our back ups are that good your crazy. Oh yeah I hate to say this but this is weapon-x last year. who is going to fill his shoes?

i think it is because they are too cheap to trade up. i'm sick of this drafting and waiting three years to see if they make it. with all the picks they had this year i thought for sure they would they would spend some to get more 2nds and thirds. maybe they are trying to fill the practice squad.

I was so happy when they mad that trade with carolina. I thought for sure we'd then package whatever it took to get a vet wr or a proven OT...sigh...mean while everyone else in our division is getting that much better and we are standing still if not going backwards...very frustrating

i liked the trade too but like you said the other nfc teams all seemed to get players that could be factors right away. we have to remember we did finish last.

first off all the o-line is pretty set. Its already known that Herremans and Andrews are going to move to the tackle positions and Jean-Gilles will take over one guard spot and now they just drafted a OG who can hopefully take over the other guard spot. I'm not worried about OL at all, that is a position you pick mid to late draft anyway, i don't believe in spending early picks on OLineman. I do agree they need to take a safety which they will with one of there 3 4th round picks.

They are still drafting for special teams. This guy is a long snapper. I do agree that he probably will take over the right guard spot if Andrews moves to RT. Big if. Why move an All pro. And I agree with Andy. If you want a quality football team, then use the first round for the trenches. Most HOF skill players were drafted in later rounds.

I think the fact that the Birds wouldn't trade up in the first round has shown that they aren't willing to pay that little extra it would take to get a top rated OT like Clady or Albert. So don't expect them to package lito with any first round picks for anyone. Then they draft this guy Smith in the third when they probably could have gotten him a round or two later. Oh yeah, I doubt anyone expects him to be a DE. More of an Ike Reese type linebacker. And he is already 25 years old. Just about past his prime in his rookie year.

This is either the Smartest or Stupidest strategy in the draft .

We all have seen the names we hear about (Kiper, draftnicks, etc.) that the Eagles refuse to select, just to deal away, because Reid says there isn't any difference.

example: Notre Dame's head coach Charlie Weis said:
He feels Laws, drafted 47th overall, is on par with USC defensive tackle Sedrick Ellis, who was taken 40 picks earlier.

Now if Reid believes this, and is correct, that these 2 are "on par" with each other, then this is a STEAL,if this turns out wrong ,,, we are dead-in-the-water.
but ,,these guys are the Pro's.

Either we are the smartest or stupidest team in the NFL.

right now im leaning towards the stupidest..unfortunately

shut up every body except the people who are not making stupid comments the the eagles have 45 pro bowl selections from players they drafted since the andy reid era begin so please let the front office to their job so chill

Yeah ur right rofl Charlie Weis isn't a bias source of info or anything right? After all he only coached the kid. If Joe Pa says Anthony Morelli is on par w/ Matt Ryan... it must be true.

the bottom line is "the delusions of grandeur twins" jeff and joe seem to think a team that was 5-8 before winning 3 meaningless games is good enough to trade out of the first round. i watched quite a few teams make moves to get better this weekend and that includes dallas and the giants....when are these guys going to realize that they have not won a suber bowl yet. one thing for sure is they have saved money by trading down . the first 2 picks serve needs and shopuld get on the field but a rashard mendenhall or even otah would have helped this offense

The Eagles are cheap! the want to say they have the most money going into the season and manage the cap and all that good stuff, well guess what it ain't working anymore. They have not gotten any players thru this draft other then DeSean(primarily a kick returner) that will have an impact or even get on the field next year. I remember watching the super bowl and you see both teams have draft picks on the field making plays and the only pick that got on the field for us was like Bradley in the last two games. And thedon i understand they do draft well at times they find good diamonds in the ruff. but i am sick of drafting players that sit for two or three years, if i was McNabb i would want to be traded because we took a million defensive players this off season and not one person to help him. our offense is basically the same, not good enough

Amen bro ... testify
Hallelujah..in 09 when Kolb is ready,and we maybe make a play for a big #1 WR,and justify
going after Roy William's and his new-big contract.this draft may be something ?

but in 08 ,, I'm sorry, I just don't see it ?

I agree. Barring any significant trades for a proven offensive weapon,(which I highly doubt), this is McNabbs last season and we wasted ten years by never giving this great quarterback a steady #1 wide receiver. Its such a shame.

It is a shame McNabb never had anyone but T.O. for one year and he got to the super bowl. we have had wr's like mcmullen, pinkston, thrash, g lew etc etc. horrible he might be one of the tops quarterbacks of this era and never had anyone to throw the damn rock too. i really feel for this guy, i would be irate if i was him. i love our defense they are going to be very fast and physical could be a top five defense which is great, not sure that is enough to win anything tho

I wouldnt even show up to camp if i were him, his bank account is set for life just off his chunky noodle soup or whatever...I agree get him the BEST weapon for 1 year, get to the superbowl, than never replace him...shame
