Back To Work 1.0

Hey Guys I just noticed that my original Back To Work blog did not post completely. Here is the part that was cut off. Enjoy.

Finally I am back in Atlanta and I can definitely say that I have missed this city. Even though I have only been a part of the dirty bird franchise for a year now ( March 2nd to be exact) I am really starting to view Atlanta as my home.

I have been doing a lot of traveling since the season ended. I started with a weekend get away in Las Vegas then I stopped in Phoenix for the Superbowl which is a great experience every year ( it will be even better when I am playing in the game and not just watching). After the Superbowl, I flew to Hawaii to hang ten during the Pro-Bowl. After I got all of my fun out of the way it was back to business when I headed to Northern California to attend a business entrepreneurial program presented by the NFL at Standford University. From Standford I spent a week in Charleston at Moms house ( everyone know you cant stay away from home for too long before Moms is on the phone complaining.) After my much needed visit home I had the great pleasure and honor to speak at Columbia University as the keynote Speaker for the Sports Philanthropy Project. I was extremely nervous however I was told I did a great job (thanks everyone for all the support and motivation).

Now if you are exhausted reading the above paragraph, just imagine how tired I am from going through it. A lot has changed football wise since the season has ended. We have a entire new staff, including a great new GM from New England, our new head coach from the Jaguars, offensive coordinator courtesy of the Steelers and lastly my running back coach who we call Shaft. As far as I am concerned our whole staff is a bunch of Bad Mother (shut yo' mouth).

There were many causalities of war from the regime change. The one that hit me the most was when Alge Crumpler was released. Coming from Baltimore, Crump reminded me a lot of pro-bowl TE Todd Heap except he had a better tan. The reason Crump and I became so tight was because he was just an all around great person. He was always joking and laughing and cared about his teammates as individuals not just football player. I am very confident that he is going to do his thing with the Titans. I will be sure to pour out a little Gatorade next time I am on the field.

Yeah, that sounds like some pretty busy stuff. But remember, change can be good. Especially this year, right?

changes can be great and in our case, i know that they are

Sounds like you're pretty up on the changes. It's great to read blogs like this and be able to pick up on the energy and enthusiasm there even at this time of year. A lot of players get a bad rap from the media with too many generalisations. Seeing stuff like this really brings home just how hard you guys work and how much you give back. Keep up the good work and keep posting the blogs.

I just spent awhile giving my thoughts on the Falcons from 2007 to present on my blog and here's the snippet I wrote about you.

"With that being said, then General Manager Rich McKay signed fullback Ovie Mughelli to a 6 year 18 million dollar contract with a 5 million dollar signing bonus. Mughelli barely even played and was not even used as a short yardage back like he probably should have been. I won't call it a bad signing just yet, but he has big shoes to fill with the vacation of fan favorite Justin Griffith and personally I will gladly give him another year to see if he can prove his worth in a real offense with an actual coach."

I was wanting to know if you felt under utilized in Coach Pustrino's offense after being honored with that huge contract? To me it seemed like he enjoyed the one back sets with 3-4 wide receivers, and obviously he had to get Crump in there. I know you're a hard worker and ready to bust some heads this year, can't wait to see it happen.

whats up jfine, im sorry it took so long to get back to u but if u read my update u know that ive been a lil busy. Im actually glad u brought that up because it has ben a sore subject with me for awhile. If you ask anyone who knows me they can tell u im a very competitive person and want to be the best at whatever i do whether its football or video games. Thats why it was absolutely killing me when i came into atl with this huge contract but yet didn't have a chance to play and show my teamtes , coaches and especially the fans what i can do. it used to piss me off when people would say im overrated or overpaid last year bc i never had enough time on the field to truly prove them wrong.
The only way i was able to keep sane was because i know who i am and i know what im capable of and i knew that people can talk all they want, but after they see what i do next year as far as blocking running the ball and catching it. All my critics will have to shut up

aww, Ovie, we miss you in Bmore! You were always a good example to those around you. It's great to see that there are pro athletes are still good guys and good role models with all the craziness that surrounds them! Best of luck to you with your new team. Remember Romans 8:28!!
Love, Christi :)

thanks for the good scripture christi
