Birds fans: NOW we can get that #1 WR

You guys know I don't ever say something unless I truley believe it... I've never been for the WR rumors before the draft but read on....

Hmmm is Philadelphia the only city that realizes that our All-Pro CB Lito Sheppard is still an Eagle? I mean you can't find info anywhere about this. After long speculations for the last few months comming into the draft, the Eagles did not trade Lito Sheppard. YET.... What they did do however was trade out of the 19th pick for Carolina 1st round next year which will be a pretty good pick. Our Philadelphia Eagles now have some leverage Look at my scenarios..........

1st Scenario- (THE ONE WE ALL HOPE FOR) We now have both Lito Sheppard and two first rounds to dangle in front of any team with a #1 WR R. Williams, A.Bolden, C. Johnson

We keep one 1st round pick and trade Lito the a 1st for any of those guys and become the instant favorite out of the NFC EAST......... in addition WE WIN NOW

2nd Scenario- (Ehh not exactly what we want but it'll work) We keep Lito and our picks go into the season with whatever we have and have the best CB tadem in the NFL by far. The positive is we get to see what its like to have two #1 CBs on the same team the negative is they'll have to pick up for the slack the because the offense wont be as productive without a true force. The end result we have two 1st rounders for next yr and we still have a solid team that can compete for a superbowl

3rd Scenario-(This one is a bummer) We trade Lito for a future 2nd and a 4th make no strong additions and us Birds fans feel like we did last year after the draft.

I know you didn't expect me to be the one to say we can get a #1 WR but can you blame me the draft does this to people and at the end of the day I JUST WANNA WINNA

holla, thumbs up

4th Scenario- (I feel this would be the best but it will never happen) We keep Lito and trade BOTH first round picks next year for Quanroychad. That would be good for everyone except good players that want to be drafted by the Eagles next year.

thnx for the sarcasm jpeterb i forgot how much young players want to come to philly lol

What makes you believe anything like that would happen ??
there is NOTHING even remotely ,,,saying these guys are available.
but then agin ..you think the NFL is Madden 09.

did you ever think the Eagles wait until next year ,when Roy Williams will be available ?

umm thank you for having enough brains to realize its a blog and all this a wishful thinking because there isnt even a source....guys like you screw up threads because you think your smart as hell making asinine comments.... Hmm by the way unless the player is a Franchise QB like Brady or Manning the player is available teams listen to all offers and theres always a selling point..oh but you just wanted to sound smart and didnt consider that..have a nice day

Ok ,,I'll play along.

I really didn't think yardbarker was a website for your wishful thoughts,
but a site for News,Rumors, like the "SIGN" STATES:

What is Yardbarker?
Yardbarker is where fans and athletes debate sports,
read and write articles, and watch videos.

but OK,,let's say you are corrct.
And Yardbarker is here for your wishes ...
try to include something with substance to discuss.
anyone can write I want player X, to add another of the hundreds ? of articles written already.
You really believe there isn't anyone here that doesn't know these 3 WR's have been discussed, every way ? bring something new ..true the scenerios, are a new-take to an old story.
but it's still an old story ... unless you heard something new, which makes any of these 3 available to be traded by their teams in anyway ?

and what's wrong with "smart"?
Intelligent conversation scares you ? ... but OK, ... maybe toyr right.
who cares about the NFL,and contracts(with NO TRADE clauses in them) because here fantasy football rukes.

again thank you for commenting with something "positive"...sorry for the misconception with the title and buddy if you dont like a post dont comment on it instead of wasting space on the thread

tks,
my apologies ..
Just venting some frustrations ... been looking for that #1WR deal for weeks,
to just come up empty time and time again.
but ,,hey,we get a winner on the field ,,it's all good.
heat-of-the-battle ,,i guess.

I can relate and I feel for you I've sat here too week after week hearing all the diffrent rumors I thought for sure we'd give up Lito for crap and all cry about it today but it didnt happen so I let my mind wander a bit and came up with scenarios that might happen but ay we all have a common goal in which we want to see the birds succeed

but you are right.
type ans wish anything that makes you happy ...fine.

When I saw the new article,I thought someone heard/saw something,as a trade for a #1 WR was happening? I really didn't know this was just more of the same ..

and you have a nice draftday also.

exactly, take Roy as a FA and have 2 picks in the first for line or safeties or whatever. we are looking golden. I love who we are right now

"the negative is they'll have to pick up for the slack the because the offense wont be as productive without a true force."

Why are there so many Eagles fans out there that think we have no chance as an offense if we don't get a big vet reciever. You guys know that Donovan and the D somehow got us to 4 straight NFC Championship games with crap recievers like James Trash...Aligator Arms Pinkston, Fred EX NFL PLAYER......How much better is our offense now compared to then. Last year we didn't get it done. There were multiple reason for it though.

#1...our return game was HORRIBLE DREADFUL. In the green bay game we couldn't even catch the ball. (We drafted Jackson...so problem addressed, and we have Reid and possibly Lito if he sticks around as backup options

#2 Mcnabb Came back from an injury early. We have to Give Mcnabb props for the freak of nature that he is. That injury takes a year and a half to fully recover from. The 9th game of the season was the one year mark of his inury. The simple fact that he was able to come back is amazing. However it was very clear that he was not able to do the normal things that he can do early in the season. This hurt our offense for sure. However we all saw him start to get that burst back in his legs later in the season. After a full offseason to recover he should back to normal.

#3 Donovan mcnabb's favorite targets have always been the tightend and the running back . LJ Smith was horrible last year trying to recover from his injury. He just wasn't himself all year long, and for whatever reason the staff didn't have enough trust to play Celek until the end of the season. With a healthy LJ and a more experience Celeck Mcnabb will have his escape option back. This always gave defenses fits becasue they would do a good job shutting down the recievers and getting to mcnabb, but he would always escape and find a Tightend open to bail him out. Especially in the ENDZONE!!!!! How many times have we seen McNABB go to CHAD LEWIS or LJ SMITH in the enzone of the years.......That was what we were missing last year. Also with no LJ Smith as a threat it allowed defenses to Double up on the recievers. It is no surprise that when LJ got a little more healthy towards the end of the season that the WR numbers went up. Especially Reggie Brown.

Everyone is thinking BIG WIDE RECIEVER.......TRUST ME I WOULD LOVE ROY WILLIAMS or CHAD , but don't think that our offense is automatically going to stink!!

We have Westbrook in his Prime. The Defense is YOUNG FAST and The Best it has been in Years. A few years ago this Run Defense was one of the worst in the league. Now teams are going to have a real hard time trying to run on this D. It is going to free up our Corners. We have a lights out Return Man in Jackson and he we can line him up in the slot and the defense will have to put someone on him. He is a threat to take it to the endzone on every play. So now they have to worry about Westbrok, Jackson and LJ smith. I don't expect Jackson to play a ton of snaps on offense this year, but they will have packages for him and he should make an immediate impact.

As for Lito Unless we get Roy or Ocho then I hope we keep him. We will have the best Nickel Package in the game.. We will have to pay him though to make him happy. I say just tell him if he stays healthy that we will redue his deal and give him descent money. With a happy Lito we have two Probowl Corners. Who is to say he can't take the job from Sheldon Brown?

when we won the NFC those years the east was terrible, thats not the case anymore-the window has slammed shut.....remember when jeffrie lurie claimed we would win MULTIPLE SUPER BOWLS .....i have a great idea jeffrie, lets win ONE first before we win multiple

i'd rather punch through the glass, then walk through an open window.

"Fred EX NFL PLAYER..." - CLASSIC!!!! ROTFLMAO!!!!!

I will also add the pertinent point that Curtis was a 1,000-yard receiver despite everything you pointed out above... I expect Curtis to improve in year 2 in our system. If we then add Roy Williams next year, it's icing on the cake.

eaglesklexco got a point but as much as we all love donovan mcnabb he isnt the same guy he cant move the same way and is getting older....I'm the biggest #5 supporter but a QB can only do so much..... those years we went to 4 NFC title games we had a vetern defense that was expierenced and known as one of the best this current defense while good is very YOUNG wth the exception of ALL-WORLD safety brian dawkins........a young front d-line + a young line backing core = inexpierence. They'll be good but why take the chance thats why the whole city wishes we had a #1 WR who demands double coverages so our offense scores enough points. you can easily argue both points its what you prefer good points though by Eaglesklexo

the Birds MUST have a motive for trading away our 1st 2 picks... smells like a big time trade package involving Lito and a/those 1st rounder(s). I like it. I also like the prospect of having Lito & Assante together in the backfield. Add Sheldon & Dawk and you have an UNSTOPPABLE backfield. A few run stoppers and we're gold. Scenario 1 & 2 are both good, buckle up I think there's gonna be some noise made this week. My bet, Calvin Johnson. I would rather have the Poor Man's TO, but I'd settle.

how about nothing was there, for the value of that pick, so they could trade back, get the same amount of talent, and more picks. Does that make sense to you?

june 1st is when we will get our reciever, come on chad!

lito isnt going anywhere

why do we keep waiting we have waited to dam long 4 a superbowl get a dam number 1 wideout shit. tired of people saying wait.

I like the 1st scenario.......... cause after all, we haven't picked anybody up in the 1st rd 2 yrs in a row!!!!!!!!! this might be andy's new fad.........let's hope one of those 3 teams bite cause now we are the only team with that much to offer............

come on............... june 1st

thats the first day cincy wont take an 8 million dollar cap hit for trading chad

refer back to ur comment #10 ????

they are not getting a #1 WR. Get that through your heads. Did drafting Jackson not tell you anything?

Yea!!! it told me we still need a vet #1 that could come in and pull off.... a T.O. like season!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

unfortunatly kevin1 you would be right on here and that sucks

yeah we are trying to sure up special teams

unless we have 30 mill in cap next year, the eagles are not keeping two 1st rd picks!!!!!!!! might as well trade them for chad or roy.....

we'll most likely trade both for multiple pick next year, sadly.

you obviously have no idea what Big Red is doing.. and it is quite genius. Next year we have two number 1 picks. he is going to trade them both down in deals similar to this year's with Carolina. in 2010, we will have 4 first round picks to trade down, in 2011 we will have 8, 2012 - 16 and 2013 we will have all 32 first round picks. then we will dominate!!

haha, if that were true, our team would go bankrupt.

HELP!!! I can't...stop...laughing...!!!!! That has to be one of the funniest things I've ever read... The combination of scarcasm, irony, and deadpan humor is killing me!!! "...and 2013 we will have all 32 first round picks. then we will dominate!! " I LOVE IT!!!

AHAHAHHAAA

lol

As a fan of the Lions, yea i just said that it wasn't a typo(and there still are a few fans left), I would not mind taking Lito and one of your 1st rounders next year for Roy. However, I like Roy and Roy has said that he would like to stay in Detroit(he is trying to get a long term deal), but the Lions don't want to have to pay him the money he wants b/c they gave a huge contract to Calvin last year. This means that Roy will either get a big deal, get traded, or get franchised over the summer for a one year deal(or the picks if he leaves). Millen might be an idiot, but there is no way he is going to let Roy hit the free agent market without getting anything in return.

Us as Eagles fans, need to get it out of our mind that were trading for a no.1 reciever. If that was gonna happen, it probably would have during the draft. Andy said today "weve recieved NO significant offers for Lito"....lets face it guys...Reggie will be #1, and if a miracle happens and we some get a WR (not soon to be 31 year old Chad) then rejoice. Im donr reading any more No.1 reciever posts unless the papers have been signed. I cant fking take this anymore

F*ck a potential top ten pick AND lito AND other picks for a 31 year old reciever

im gettin real tired of this LITO SHIT!.. every day I must check every website there is to see if there is any movement with LIto.. Im actually kinda pissed we didnt trade him this weekend.. I love Lito.. but i have worked myself up way to much for a chad johnson or a Anquan Boldin..
I think the eagles have already decided to keep him. Forget the trade talk bull

i like everyone else would love see us get any of those three wide outs!! but they re obviously not being traded!!! having the best cb rotation is a great feeling!!! there are some mean receivers in our division!!! but we have the best secondary now to counter that!!! im actually lookin forward to seeing t. blow, suxico, and that midget the foreskins have with frustrated looks on their face!!! also seeing tony homo crying and fightin' with t-blow after lito and asante have interception return td runs!!!! priceless!!!

yeah, we didnt get the big surprise that was goin to happen this weekend. just another boring draft with picks that we all question. will jackson be the great w.r. that we all want? i doubt it, he was about the fourth w.r. on my list to take.will june 1st come and go without a trade? probably. all i know for sure is when september gets here it wont matter what happened or didnt happen because when our team takes the field we will be backing every player that wears that eagles uniform. a great q.b.,a defense that will rake havoc, a r.b. that is the best in the nfl, w.r.'s that may not be the best but can get the job done. and i will refuse to envy any other player that dont wear the eagle wings on the side of there helmet. eagles will win the s.b. in 08 as a solid unit, and thats all that matters. goodnight everybody!

THE EAGLES WILL NOT ACQUIRE A TOP FLIGHT RECEIVER!

I want one just as bad as the next guy, but its NOT going to happen. At least not this year.

So lets get OVER the #1 WR rumor/question/trade/etc...

Be happy the Eagles came away with some pretty nice players, a few sleepers, a few question marks and TWO 1st rounders next year!

E-A-G-L-E-S...EAGLES!

What everyone doesn't realize is that Andy Reid and the Eagles have already made a trade for Boldin. Then they traded Boldin for Roy Williams. Then they traded Williams for Chad Johnson.

The Eagles haven't announced these deals because they just enjoy torturing Eagle fans.

Be patient, Eagle fans. The Eagles will officially announce the deal for Chad Johnson right before training camp begins. They want all of you to be REALLY excited a few weeks before the season starts.

By the way, Harold Carmichael will will announce that he wants to help the Eagles win a Super Bowl this year. Can you imagine how deadly our offense will be with Chad Johnson and big Harold as our starting WR's? I can't wait to see #85 on one side and #17 on the other side.

We're going to the Super Bowl!!!

wow Eagles2007 ur optimistic

I don't think the Eagles are going to get Johnson.

The Eagles don't need Johnson to win a Super Bowl.

The Bengals drafted two wr's for three reasons:

1) They no longer have Chris Henry

2) They have no depth whatsoever. They have TJ and no one else.

3) Johnson might not play this season.

Here are the receiving stats from 2007 for the Bengals other WR's:

Reggie Kelly - 20 receptions for 221 yards and zero TD's

Antonio Chatman - 19 receptions for 149 yards and one TD

Glenn Holt - 16 receptions for 143 yards and 1 TD.

These 3 guys aren't good wr's. The Bengals had to draft at least one WR with their first 4 picks.

Even if the Bengals knew that Johnson would play for them this year, they still would have drafted at least one of these WR's.

Chad Johnson doesn't have many fans in Cincinnati:
