The Green Bay Packers have placed quarterback Brett Favre on the NFL's reserve/retired list, along with waiving three players, to reduce the number of players counting against the Green Bay active roster to 68 players on active status. The transactions were announced Friday by Executive Vice President, General Manager and Director of Football Operations Ted Thompson
"The NFL does not require a letter for a player to be placed in a reserve/retired status. Brett has announced his retirement publicly and this is simply a personnel transaction made to develop a roster opportunity for the Packers."
