Chad Johnson: All rumors and "if's" aside, Do Eagle's fans actually WANT him?

Let's pretend for a moment that he becomes an Eagle. As a fan, do you want him on the team? I'm excited by the mere possibility, but I can't help but remember Mr. Owens working out on his front lawn, flaming T.O. scarecrows in the Linc parking lot, and the general nightmare that became of that entire situation. I can't be alone in my nervousness of another "deal with the devil", can I?

I wouldnt min Chad in an Eagles jersey.

Chad isn't TO...plain and simple. He's unhappy in Cincy...who wouldn't be? Hes not throwing guys under the bus, he just wants to win and thats not possible where he is now.

Hasn't thrown anyone under the bus?? How about throwing a punch at your head coach...??

And maybe all this hoopla isn't Chad throwing his entire team under the bus.... but you know as well as I do that these things can be dealt with internally. Drew says they tried to work it out that way but nothing remains a secret in sports anymore.... this thing just came way out of left field all the sudden. When you go forward with stuff like this, you really do put all your teammates in a rough place.

Well the coach in question even discredited that story...so who knows what to believe there. Hell I'd punch Marvin Lewis too the way he runs that team. If anything actually happened, thats something in the heat of the moment during a game...hes not sitting back and verbally trashing his teammates...2 completely different things.

Owens is a pure ego-maniac who couldn't handle not being "the man". And he ranted and raved about wanting more money to "feed his kids". He's smart as a box of rocks. Chad on the other hand is just sick of losing. The FO accuses him to be a "problem", the FO can't hold on to key players to make Cincy a winner, and they don't do anything to really help boast their team in FA. I would love Chad in green. He would make us instant contenders without a doubt. It would be the offense of 2004 all over again with a better defense. :)

They are not a better defense. No trotter, no Kearse (when healthy he was stud), no Dhani Jones, or Darwin Walker, or Corey Simon. We have absolute crap at LB and our d-line except for Cole is ok. The only stud part of our defense is our secondary and they aren't that much better if we trade Lito.

Cole=Stud

Our LBs are young, fast, and promising. Did you miss Bradley's goal line stand last year? Our defense is much better with Bunk/Patt in the middle instead of Darwin/Simon (who was at the tail end of his career). Dhani Jones? hahahaha ok now I know you must be joking. He sucks, always has, always will.

The only thing Dhani was good for was a laugh with his air guitar routine. How many times did blow an assignment?

It was air-banjo dude. Infinitely lamer.

Gocong sucks don't kid yourself, and Gaither is alright but didn't come close to Trotters production in years past. I'll admit I did forget about Bradley he is a beast. Dhani Jones is so much better than Gocong, Dhani had a habit of making the right plays at the right time which is something only one of our LB's can boast this year (Bradly goal line stand and pick).

For the record... the FO has never come out and publicly said Chad Johnson is a problem.

Chad is using that excuse as a way to get out Cincy.

With some of the comments they exchanged last week, I think this whole thing boils down to Carson and Chad not getting along... and I never expected that.

It isnt with Carson palmer all over him and his own Team WRs aparaently telling us all that trading Johnson would be the best for the bengals (TJ HOUZ...) which i can see he is trying to bring things at ease cuz that is wat the bengals will eventually do is trade him but i think its self of him because he seems like eventually he would want more money an also the spot light so why wouldnt TJ say that now knowing that it will be a positive for him later on in the future think about it...

Chad i know u get along with Mcnabb an u want to win go to philly an let us win....

And as long as TO is in dallas he wont win a Superbowl that is a proven fact he will retire without one unfortunatly Chad is young an not getting any younger... He wants the superbowl n the Eagles want a superbowl... put 2 n 2 together an make it happen front office lol...

this team needs an offensive dynamic player aside from westbrook and mcnabb.... chad would be a good leader if he's happy

"if he's happy"

exactly

Chad wouldn't need to be leader...just catch dang ball.

I wish fans would stop making excuses for Johnson.Regardless of true or inaccurate comparisons to T.O. the fact is he signed a new deal LAST YEAR.He now regrets his decision (and i agree it was a poor one) and is unconcerned with adding to the Bengals problems by promoting a selfish ideal. He had his chance to split from Cincinnatti last season and he declined. I can't help but think that if we were the team that was losing our favorite player we would not be so inclined to see it his way.I do not want CJ on the Eagles. If he comes here I will, of course, continue to root for the team, but I would prefer he went someone else so as to avoid the issue entirely.

He actually signed it 2 years ago, but it was a dumb, dumb decision of for him.

I am kind of on you with this one, but I'm more neutral. I'm not pushing for us to get him because of the possible baggage, but if we do, we'll have one of the best offenses in the league easily. I'm good either way.

Well said. Everyone acts like he's been stuck with this raw deal by the Bengals for years now. He signed up for it last season and Drew Rosenhaus praised the Bengals for their handling of it.

Yes.

If gets some therapy on how to express his feelings he's good with me.

absolutely not. chad is just like T.O. he disappears when it matters. apparently, chad has a healthy number dropped passes on his stat page, as well as this interesting one...during the final 6 games of the bengals '06 campaign, and more importantly, during the final 3 of those games (when cinci only needed to win one to get in to the playoffs), chad reached the end zone exactly ZERO times. and, he followed that with only 3 scores in the first 10 games of the '07 season. that's 3 TDs in a 16 game span...remember kids, it's not like he didn't have a pro-bowl caliber QB tossing it up, so spare me how super 5 could improve his #s. while it may be true that chad has something like an 8 TD per season avg, and blah blah blah, his stats don't seem to translate into wins when the game is on the line.

he's loud, he's arrogant, he's looking out for numero uno (aka ocho cinco)

YES YES YES YES. How could you not want him. We have maybe the most versatile RB in the game. McNabb, when healthy, with a big time receiver is great. Chad is not TO. TO was killing our team when we were winning games! Chad signed a contract expecting to be good again but that didnt happen. The bengals are a terrible franchise. Everyone is getting arrested. He wants to win and they can not do that for him. So I don't blame him for wanting out. He makes us a better team and I don't think his character issues would become an issue. Before this year despite all the publicity Chad Johnson received you never heard his teammates say his actions were hurting the team. If a trade is possible...this one is difficult...the eagles should make the move and give the old veterans one last chance at the big prize. Our defense played pretty well last year and with the new additions should play well again. Jim Johnson is a master! Our offense would be much better instead of just giving the ball to Westbrook and seeing what he can do. I'll close with this, if we had won the Super Bowl signing TO would have been worth all the drama that he created and all the harm he brought to the organization afterwards. If Chad comes and wins the Super Bowl he can complain all he wants afterwards.

To the guy who said we have no one on defense and then cited former players like Dahani and Kearse. Ummm, r u serious. This D is way better then the D of a couple years ago. Dahani sucked. I can't stress this enough and Kearse never got it going in the Eagle green except for the first couple games before he got hurt. Cole is a major playmaker if he has help which eliminates the double teams. As for Ocho Cinco, I do not feel he is anything like TO. He is a whiner and complainer but he just wants to win. Now if he were to come to Philly and we started losing then yea it would be a problem but I'M ALL FOR THAT RISK. 5's years are numbered and the Eagles FO needs to go balls out this year.

G Cobb is reporting that Mike Quick has reported that the birds are in a bidding war for Roy Williams. I'd rather have Williams than another mouth in the locker room. I'm sorta proud that we don't have that this year. I wouldn't trade the dignity of the franchise for anything and this guy is trouble...

Well if GCobb said it, it must be true! I hope it is true, but I'll wait for a credible source to say something.

Now DTRIK, you know GKnob has accurately reported every move the Eagles have made this year.Don't ignore the journalistic power of the dynamic duo that is GCobb and Micah Warren.Plus they have all the resources of Blaze magazine at their fingertips.

True he was the first to regurgitate the Asante and Moss stories! Good luck with ferkid20 in his little story...I refuse to get in that one. I don't need him questioning my fanhood...it might make me cry. "We trust our sources in Philly" F-him...we question everything and everybody in Philly...I can guarantee ya he's from a NE suburb or the Mainline

Judging from his command of the English language I'm guessing he's a Villanova student. At any rate you are wiser than me.I am now battling GCobb fans on several fronts simultaneously.

Chad just doesn't seem any different than T.O. to me. On Sports Center, Johnson said that "I will never change" and that he no longer cares about making other people happy. great. just the kind of guy i want to sell the farm for. he's also been quoted as saying, "Chad has to do what's right for Chad, whether they like the light or not. It doesn't matter. That's the problem. I have to do what's right for me. Period.'' he can be a great player, and do dances, and score TDs, but he's a total headcase and a headache.

Amen brother DaBirds717 and mcnabb can retire... Because he proved everything he had to an the eagles can embark in rebuilding with a new Offense(young) and Defense(young) if not mcnabb can stay around an try to win us a 2nd superbowl but for now 1 is better than none....

The great thing is that we probably dont have to offer him as much money like we did to Randy Moss.... Chad wants to win come to philly an help us win and plus once he plays if he plays for us he plays against his team and that will be a Great game in itself he will run allover his Defense than again i hope they dont come in that week with ruthless agression cuz we dont need him injured but we should be all good lord willing if we dont get him than hey... We gota see what happens

YES 1000000000000000000 Times! Ocho Cinco isn't anything like T.O. Sure he loves to celebrate and he talks trash on opponents but hasn't said a word about his team mates. He didn't say his quarterback choked and he needs more money, he wants to get out so he can win. The bengals are far from a contender at this point, the running game has diminished, NO DEFENSE. I would love to see 85 in the birds uniform. WE NEED SOMEONE, GOD PLEASE HELP!

well im not an eagles fan but he should be an eagle.

yup and he could get along with brown and curtis an westbrook an mcnabb and lj smith cuz if they had carson palmer and rudi johnson and TJ houz an the troublesome Chris henry as there starting offense players he would definitly get along wit our guys

and what, exactly, are we basing this on? how can you just throw it out there that he's gonna get along with our guys?

No, JackMcCracken, I don't want Chad Johnson. He's too much like Owens. He's very talented. He's also in love with himself. I don't think Andy Reid would want another self-absorbed WR. The Eagles want to win a Super Bowl. They can accomplish that goal without Chad Johnson. Westbrook is our star offensive player.

Chad Johnson also punched Marvin Lewis at halftime during a playoff game against the Steelers in 2006. I don't think a team player or a leader would do something like that. Reid and the Eagles players wouldn't be able to tolerate Johnson.

Well said. Chad Johnson is punk who only cares about himself.

Big yawn!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Oops! Another big yawn!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Another sleeper Chad article.

first of all five rings if this topic is making you so sleepy why are you even commenting or reading the article, whats the matter dallas fans getting a little worried about the birds next season? do me a favor go buy a box of pampers for that cry baby T.O, are you people on drugs? chads pearsonality and off field antics aside, when that guy puts on a helmet on sundays he's one of the best out there, the guy doesn't half ass routes and decide im tired ill walk this play like mr. moss who we were willing to throw so much money at and dont get me wrong moss is also one of the best if not the best im just saying chad is a H.O.F on the field besides his attitude and swagger would fit in perfect in philly

It just gets old seeing the same old articles posted over and over again. And, no , I am not worried about your bleeping Eagles. If I were YOU, which I am glad I am not, I would be worrying about how my team is going to improve on an 8-8 season. Yeah, Chad is good. So is Randy, Larry, Roy and all of the rest of them. Get over it. Start singing when you sign one of them.

Oh it gets old alright...espcially when the same things posted 50x...but I don't see the intelligence level going up with half the people on here FIVER

Got that right!!!

I wouldn't want Chad that much, I mean if he was a free agent, yeah I'd pick him up, but he's not worth trading for because he's not the best, there are at least 3-5 receivers in the league better than he is.

To me, the only receiver I'd give up everything for is T.O., definitely the best right now in my opinion.

ProFootballTlk.com reports that Chad Johnson will not be traded at any point.

http://www.profootballtalk.com/2008/04/21/bengals-not-budging/

Not sure how much I credit an article that used Ocho Stinko and Quicko Sando in the same sentence.... but ya... I've been saying this for months. His contract make him completely untradable for a team thats trying to add players and push away from that damn .500 mark.... much like the Eagles.

Out of all the positions taken in the draft over the past few years, I think WR has had some of the best success stories. I wouldn't be surprised at all to see the Eagles say piss on this trade business and draft a couple new faces. It certainly worked for the Bengals 6 years ago.

BRING CHAD!

Yes he wants to win...!!!!!
