Debating the need for Strahan

The New York Giants star defensive lineman is debating returning for a 16th NFL season or opting for retirement. On Thursday, Strahan said he had decided what to do, but is waiting for the right time to announce his intentions. Some speculate that time will come after another training camp has passed.

While the world awaits the announcement, our experts consider whether Strahan just wants to avoid another training camp, who might succeed him as the pass-rusher offenses fear most and whether the Giants would benefit if he retired.

CLICK it.......i'd hate to see him go he is one of my faves, next to shockey on this team!!!

lol this made me laugh:
Mike Sando: Are the Giants better off without Strahan, given that they have an abundance of pass-rushers and his retirement would mean one less bellyaching star in the locker room?

that's bull even a raiders fan knows the ability of a good baller like strahan. we'll see girlie what he does he just might retire, kinda go out on top thang

i think he's going to retire as well

I wish that i can say that he will be back next year but he's gone and will be missed but , but that other guy you mentioned who gave ELI plenty of flack (when he was not hurt) needs to be traded very quickly.

Agree with you about Shockey!

thanks checkmate for the input, i really don't know what to think about his comings & goings/retiring~not retiring. i kinda don't want to see that i love to watch him play, i guess time will tell!!

If Strahan were to retire, why would he hold off his announcement? We all know that if he is going to return he'll do anything in his power to avoid camp (which is fine by me)

i don't know webkid, i guess soon enough we'll know ~ thoughts running through ppl's heads that's all !

Strahan is a leader on that team. I think he will be missed if he retires. He's a player that gives 100% on the field and it rubs off on his teammates. Whether he can still perform at a very high level remains to be seen, but I think he may have a good year left.

I think he still has one good year left. I also think if he were to return that he should not be allowed to skip camp especially if he gets close to the amount of money he's rumored to be asking to play for one more year. At the very least show up to camp with a decreased worlkoad. I'm not a fan of anyone being able to skip camp unless it's due to injury. And Shockey won't be traded, the Saints have recently said the talks are all but dead and I'd like to see concrete proof for those that say he hindered Eli's development. Kevin Boss is not half the player a healthy Shockey is.

I agree that he needs to be in camp. That doesn't look good to the team. I think Shockey whining for the ball on every play as a little too much. Not denying he is a good tight end, but he needs to reel in his emotions and just play ball. I think most people noticed a difference when he was out because Eli wasn't constantly using him as the crutch.

I understand that logic about Shockey but I really didn't think he was THAT bad last season. And it's not impossible for someone to change after they see a team win a ring. Look at Randy Moss, most said he would never make it in New England under Belechick but Moss saw that Tom Brady and company were proven winners and he wasn't a distraction at all with the Pats while having one of his best seasons ever. You could just see it in every post game interview, he looked and acted like a shy rookie who was humbled to be on the Patriots team. I'm glad Shockey will be back and I don't believe he'll be a hinderance.
