Eagles can ask, but Cardinals won't trade Boldin

Trade rumors have been swirling around the Eagles, and one of the names that comes up frequently is Anquan Boldin. The star receiver for the Cardinals became the subject of rumors as soon as teammate Larry Fitzgerald signed a big contract, one that made Boldin's deal look minuscule. There has speculation since that time that the Cardinals would look to deal Boldin since he would likely ask for a new contract and they couldn't afford to keep both receivers.

Enter the Eagles, who have been desperately seeking a new weapon for Donovan McNabb. Apparently the Eagles and the Redskins have both made trade offers to the Cardinals, but Arizona has not even entertained the idea of dealing Boldin. The Cardinals aren't "interested in trading Anquan," according to their General Manager Rod Graves. The Eagles apparently offered Lito Sheppard and a high draft pick, but the Cardinals flatly refused that offer.

The Eagles are doing there due diligence and inquiring about every available receiver, hoping that there is a team out there willing to part with one. The have a great trading chip in Lito Sheppard that could net them what they want, but the problem is, another team has to actually want to make a trade.

I'm skeptical about the likelyhood of this deal working out. Another AZ receiver who "has to be traded" huh? I'm going to believe the Cards' FO this time. Also, I wonder how much value Shepperd has at this point in the eyes of the rest of the league. Along with three or four WRs he has also been implicated in trade attempts for Jared Allen. I'm starting to think Lito is not the great bargaining chip some would have you believe. If it turns out he is only useful for moving up a few spots in a draft round I'd rather keep him.

I agree on Lito maybe not being worth what the Eagles think. If he was so valuable, why can't the Eagles seem to muster up any interest in him?

They claim theres plenty of interest...just not from Detroit/Zona/Cincy apparently. We'll find out on Saturday how much interest there really is and whos interested.

the point is not that they dont have any interest, lito has a hell of alot of interest considering his age and skill set.... but i agree with my team in thinking of keeping him unless u get sumthing u want.... we arent going to give him away for nothing, when u can have the best secondary in the league with him.... the want that wide receiver and they will hold on to lito until one is available, which will probably happen during the draft....

"If there's a GM who tells the truth during the month of April, he's making a mistake. I've always called it liar's month. All GMs should be forgiven in April. Please, do not judge any GM in April. Lying is simply a part of our business in April.''

--San Diego GM A.J. Smith, in an interview with Nick Canepa of the San Diego Union Tribune.

bottom line. don't believe Rod Graves when he says Arizona isn't interested in trading Boldin.

sort of like when the eagles say they want to keep lito, yet they try to get rid of him every chance they get

we are all now talking draft day stuff, expect anyone and everyone to deny any sort of trade like this

agreed booger and dtrik Im waiting until saturday then well see if anyones interested. Lito is starting to look like a banana being dangled in front 32 apes, hopin that the one ape that bites just so happens to have a star WR that they wouldnt mind trading...

There probably will be a Trade for A Good wideout i know we want a great wideout not just good but we will pick someone up maybe someone un expected i guess we are all focused in trading with zona cinci and the lions we forget that there are 28 teams that we can trade with for someones value that can help us move the chains on offense...

Remember Kevin was a 3rd WR and look how he faired out this past season as a 2nd reciever with brown being first even though Kevin looked more like the 1st WR we can get a decent enough player and make him a great player why is that Cuz of Donovan Mcnabb... Because i know the Rams QB wouldnt help kevin bolster up those numbers even if he was a 1st or 2nd WR...

Mcnabb can make u look good....

As much as I love McNabb...Curtis made himself look good. Remember that catch against the Lions??? He made 5 look good on that one. If McNabb could make players look good Freddie, Pinkston, CJ, McMullen would still be Eagles. Hes a great QB dont get me wrong, but its usually receivers making QBs look good and not the other way around.

Yeah DTrik i get what you mean.... i just know regardless Mcnabb is great through it all but i do agree with you Kevin Curtis made that game look like a Warmup before the Preseason game that game was the Greatest... It would be funny if the eagles pull off another one of those kind of games. I wouldnt doubt it because there are teams they play this yr that are weak down the middle in secondary and a defense in itself....

Like Rams are one team Browns are another team 49ers bengals falcons not saying they wont or cant improve but if any indication of what happened with Browns and Bengals Brings up anything than teams like that are in trouble because we have the Toughest Defense in my opinion and our offense can do Well with Tough Defenses so i know they will be better with weak defenses as they proved with detroit...

Red Zone is the Key this yr no Field goals Please unless it is at the end and its to secure a win but not early and often that killed us last yr...

Again, with regard to Boldin, one of the reasons AZ was adamant about keeping Fitzgerald was to maintain a top WR tandem.I don't get why some people feel he HAS to be traded. I will be shocked if AZ lets him go.As for the interest in Lito that the Eagles FO keeps refering to, we don't know the quality of offers being made.I agree with Enriquefed that if he was such a great bargaining chip we would have seen a move already. I think this is a case of waning interest and not an example of holding a hot commodity until you get the right asking price.

it's a poker game my man, people are bluffing constantly.... making a move early (going all in) isn't always the best play.

sometimes you wait till the pot gets bigger, then you make your move.

Rumors have been flying about this guy for about a month, so if anything his value has only gone down

Sales 101.................

Value is perceived by the owner.

Eagles say they want a 2nd and 5th for him. But maybe they think he's really only worth a 3rd.

If you were selling a car and you wanted 5K for it. would you list it for 5K, knowing that who ever comes to buy it will offer you a lower price if they are any type of salesman?

no. you will list it at 7K and then you will get 6K and you will be the winner. although your neighbors who saw the $7k sign on it will think you didn't get "value' for it.

Right, so his value went down.

Now I'm confused. Are we trading him in on a new Toyota Prius?

maybe the FO never intended on trading him, maybe that issue came up after they signed samuel (i know i had heard some rumors prior to that but thats all im hearing now too) and wanted to see what would come of it, who would bite on that scenario,...... maybe .....maybe.... maybe.... maybe..... who knows?

I can't see Boldin re-doing a contract with them because he wants as much as fitzgerald and the cards can't give him that. That is why they had to re-do Fitz in the first place. I still think some of the teams are lying to hide it. I am not sure if it's the cards though. They truley might be to stupid to trade him.

The Cards would be foolish to pay two receivers that much money, so there is still a chance Boldin will be on the move eventually. Maybe not this year, but eventually

With all the cap troubles the cards are GOING to be going through very soon , everyone knows they have to trade Boldin. So it's just a matter of time, if not to the Birds to someone else. So this " we aren't trading him" stance the Cards have is making them look almost as foolish as the deal they signed Larry Fitzgerald to.

The Cards can't afford him. They would be wise to try and move him. It doesn't appear as though it will happen before the draft though.

You all said the EXACT same things about the AZ/ Fitzgerald relationship.
