Eagles draft pick DeSean Jackson sets record straight

DESEAN JACKSON met Terrell Owens, however briefly, at a promotional appearance in Los Angeles last weekend. Jackson ended up meeting Freddie Mitchell at a workout a few months back, also in LA.

Jackson wants to be that playmaking wideout Eagles fans covet, but he said yesterday he does not want to be T.O. - at least not in the sense of "talking about your teammates'' - and he does not want to be Freddie, the guy Jackson has heard "talked his way out of the league.''

There are pitfalls to be avoided here, concerns to be addressed, as Jackson begins his Eagles career a month after being drafted in the second round, 49th overall, out of Cal. And they don't all have to do with the now-famous Scouting Combine revelation that he is 5-10, 169, instead of Cal's 6-foot, 178 listing.

Good read ck. If Desean's Dad wants the best for his son, he'll need to keep his comments out of the media. In Philly even the most positive remark will be disected and spun into something that will sell papers. The McNabb's can vouch for that. I'm pulling for him, too.

Nice read ck. I agree with mom. There's nothing wrong with wanting the best for your son, but you don't have to get the media involved. They'll do anything to get a story.

great read ck i dont mind ego as long as its productive like chad johnson was before he wanted out of cincy....

bottom line is no matter what type of spin the media puts on anything, as long as he himself stays positive, doesn't throw teammates, coaches, or the organization under the bus, and produces on the field, the media can't ruin him at all. The media is a beast that every player has to deal with, it is unavoidable. I really think this kid can be special. but I don't want to get my hopes up about a player who hasn't played in a game yet. Let's not put too high of expectations on the kid right away and then kill him if he isn't a star right away like we're known for doing. let's give the kid time to develop and turn into a great player. This could be a special year in philly...i feel it. and i still don't feel like the offseason moves are over...i don't know what moves will be made, but i'm sure there will be a move after June 1st.

AMEN, all around guys!!! i like this guy & i cannot wait to see some of his action!!! that picture will be his new collectors card coming soon :) !!! (the pic with the article) !!!

I can't wait to see this guy on the field. Great kid, We are all pulling for him. Great read CK

Thats the Truth. Heck, i thought the Lions would of drafted this guy. Lol.!! JK

great post...im really excited about him and after reading that article in the DN today, i like him that much more

HEY!!!!! thank u all for the positive feedback~ here's to a rockin season of football!!!

He forgot to mention that he doesn't have alligator arms like Stinkston did, that should make Eagles fans feel better.

u nut!!!

HAHA

I love this guy, check my blogs...I wanted the Eagles to draft one of two players for sure. One was the RB/WR Chris Johnson from East Carolina the other was De-Jack!

I know this guy will be a playmaker within the next two years. He could quite possibly become a playmaker in the Kick Return game within his rookie season.

Damn it! Where is Doc Brown when you need a time machine to take you the start of the 2008 season?

I didn't hear that McFadden's mom did coke. They must have done somthing right to get their kid to become a Pro football player! That is not just talent alone.
