Fbkid's fantasy football top ten quarterbacks

As the NFL becomes more pass oriented, good quarterback play is even more important in fantasy football. If you wait too late to get one during the draft, your team could be in trouble when the season starts as you wouldn't have a consistent player at a position that should get you at least 150 yards and a touchdown a week. Then you would be stuck playing the waiver wire deciding if Brodie Croyle against the Chargers is a better play then Rex Grossman against the Packers. The ten players on this list should all be taken within the first six rounds of the draft and if you don't try and get one of them, your team will be at a big disadvantage by the time the season starts.

1. Tom Brady Patriots: Brady had the best season for a quarterback ever last year as he threw for 50 touchdowns. This year, Brady has all of his weapons returning and should put up very good numbers. But don't get to excited, this year the Patriots will try and find more balance in the running game and teams will be focusing on stopping Brady. If you draft him expecting a repeat performance of last year, you will be disappointed. Expect around 4500 yards and 35 touchdowns.

2. Peyton Manning Colts: If you don't get Brady in your draft, don't be upset if you end up with Manning. Manning is consistent and will always get you 4000 plus yards with 30 touchdowns. Since Manning isn't a first round pick, you can grab a top tier running back in the first round and then Manning in the second. Brady may have the better stats this year, but Manning is sure to make fantasy owners happy considering how tough the AFC South is, he might need to play full games in weeks 16 and 17 which is huge come playoff time. Expect around 4300 yards and 32 touchdowns.

3. Tony Romo Cowboys: Romo showed in his first full season as a starter that he is one of the elite fantasy quarterbacks. He threw 36 touchdowns last year and now with a full year of learning Jason Garrett's offense, Romo should see even more success. The only thing that is concerning is the interception totals as he had 19 last year. But if Romo throws for 4000 yards and 30 touchdowns, fantasy owners won't mind. Expect around 4100 yards and 29 touchdowns.

4. Drew Brees Saints: Brees struggled in the beginning of the year but found his stride in the end as he ended up throwing for 4423 yards and 28 touchdowns. Some are concerned about the 18 interceptions he threw last year. But those kinds of numbers occur when you attempt 652 passes. Brees is one of the most consistent quarterbacks in fantasy football and is a great value in the 3rd or 4th round. Expect around 4300 yards and 27 touchdowns.

5. Ben Roethlisberger Steelers: It's hard to have a better year coming off a season with a career high 32 touchdowns, but Roethlisberger could do just that. Big Ben now has a full year of learning Mike Tomlin's pass oriented offense and with the addition of the 6'4 Limas Sweed, Roethlisberger could throw for even more touchdowns. The only problem is that with the poor offensive line, Big Ben could take a pounding over the course of the year and his stats could start declining in the later part of the season. Expect around 3700 yards and 31 touchdowns.

6. Matt Hasselbeck Seahawks: Hasselbeck is the perfect quarterback for the West Coast offense and should have another great year under Mike Holmgren. Hasselbeck is one of the best values in fantasy football as he always gets you 25 touchdowns and isn't usually picked until the 7th or 8th round. Expect around 3700 yards and 26 touchdowns.

7. Carson Palmer Bengals: With Palmer's abilities and his weapons around him, he is usually a top 5 fantasy quarterback, but when your two main targets want more money that could be trouble. Both Chad Johnson and T.J Houshmandzadeh are both in contract disputes and if they sit out training camp, it could hurt their great chemistry with Palmer. Both Johnson and Houshmandazadeh should be playing week one for the Bengals. But things could get really ugly in Cincy quickly and Palmer's fantasy owners won't be too happy. Expect around 4000 yards and 25 touchdowns.

8. Derek Anderson Browns: Anderson has all the weapons around him to succeed in his first full year as a starter. It will be hard for him to have as good a season as last year, but it can be done. If Anderson cuts down on the interceptions and has as good a season as everyone expects, he should be a top 5 fantasy quarterback next year. Expect around 3900 yards and 27 touchdowns.

9. Jay Cutler Broncos: Cutler has loads of potential and only showed glimpses of it last year as he threw 20 touchdowns. He should breakout in his 2nd year as a starter and he and Brandon Marshall should make fantasy owners happy for years to come. Cutler could be a great value this year as he should be picked around the 8th or 9th round but is one of the top options for a keeper league as he is just starting to show what he can do and he is only 25 years old. Expect around 3600 yards and 24 touchdowns.

10. Marc Bulger Rams: Bulger had a rough year last year but part of that was due to the fact that the Rams offensive line was in shambles. Now the Rams have brought in Al Saunders as offensive coordinator and he made Trent Green one of the best fantasy quarterbacks a few years back. Don't be surprised with the addition of a healthy Steven Jackson, if Saunders can do it with Bulger. Expect around 3400 yards and 22 touchdowns.

Great list, FB.....I hope Cutler can break out this year

Solid list FB, it's a shame my favorite quarterback, Omar Jacobs didn't make the list.

Jacobs is a good choice......I'm sure your favorite college QB is Armanti

You know it TC. Armanti for Heisman.

would be great to see him win the Heisman, he's got my vote

I don't like him, but Romo will put up solid fantasy #s.

I think Romo is overrated but if you have him on your fantasy team you can't complain.

if he does get 4100 yds and 29 touchdowns this season I don't see how he can be overrated

I agree with the list except I'd put Mcnabb 9 and Cutler 10, maybe even vice versa. Bulger's receivers are geting older and we saw how it affected him last year.

I was thinking about putting McNabb on the list as he is always among the elite quarterbacks in fantasy football when healthy. But he has had a hard time staying healthy the last few years. But if he does, McNabb will be a top ten fantasy quarterback this year.

Very solid work, excellent analysis.
Not sure he's top-10 material but I expect Kitna to put up respectable fantasy numbers for the Lions. Strange as it may sound, Martz' overreliance on the pass made Kitna a human pinata and hurt his passing stats.. Acheiveing some balance with the running game will serve to reduce some pressure up front and allow him to find his primary targets, Calvin Johnson and Roy Williams. On the other hand, the Lions may continue to suck big time.

Good points about Kitna. With the receivers the Lions have, he should put up some big numbers. The only problem is that if the Lions struggle early, they will probably give Drew Stanton a chance to start. So with that in mind, Kitna is a great backup option who is worth starting when the matchup is in his favor.

PLEASE LET ME CONTEST THE NOTION THAT TOM BRADY WAS THE BEST FANTASY QB LAST YEAR. Before you jump on me let me explain...

How many people won their leagues with him? Very Few. In week 15 he put up the biggest CHOKE ARTIST performance in the history of fantasy football with less than 4 points against the JETS. Yes, the Jets.

Before week 15 he had 44 TD's and 5 picks. Week 15, 16, 17, he had 5 TD's and 3 picks. You can't say that a player was the best for your team if he doesn't perform at the end of the year, when you're in the playoffs.

Don't sleep on Eli. He'll be a top 10 QB next year when it's all said and done.

WOW NO DONT PUT SB MVP ON THE TOP 10 THATS A SIN WTF, duden where the hell is Eli and Donovan, Jay Cutler Marc Bulger who the hell are they? Anderson and Palmer?? Tell me how you dont win a SB when you have 4 pro bowl receivers amongst the two of you, granted cincinnati has a 2nd grade d how do you not do it??? and now you guys get stallworth good luck. FBKid TC donovan is going to come back and bite you hes my starting QB Garrard behind, and ill gamble on Tarvaris Jackson (hes my feel-good QB).

This isn't my rankings of all of the quarterbacks like TC's list. Mine is for Fantasy Football. Overall, I think McNabb is one of the top 10 quarterbacks in the league when healthy.

when you finally wake up and realize you can't rely on McNabb, then maybe we can start talking.......i do agree on Tavaris though

Yeah you can't rely on five pro bowls, 4 straight NFC championship games, and a SB appearance. What has Cutler done, oh yeah no pro bowls, no AFC championship appearances, which obviously means no SB. Cutler sure does make ESPN's top 10 plays list, but really he does, when the CB picks him off and returns it for a TD. So until your QB is so important and talented that a season rides on it don't talk conserve oxygen. Hey you might be useful after all by helping the environment.

you can't rely on McNabb cuz he's always hurt...yeah,when he plays of course you can rely on him, but how often is he actually on the field?

Enough to do all of that.

haha yeah.... thats as reliable as Manning and Brady.... both who have had more success but with more WR help in their passing game. Imagine Manning in Philly, he'd be bitchin up a storm about the surrounding talent.

You can hate McNabb and Philly all you want, but when you try to say he isn't a reliable QB and fail to mention him in the top 10.... you just lose my respect to be able to talk football with you. I see he isn't coming off his best season but still is expected to be much better than at least 5 on your list. But you know what, we will just have to wait and see

jokes on you man the one time i started anderson over mcnabb was when i lost the championship in my other league i lost when i started favre over mcnabb hes going to be healthy its like all athletes say u gotta disregard the first year after an acl injury and trust me mcnabbs an athlete for sure

no love for D-NABB o well he does get hurt alot but at least I got Hassleback and Cutler

naw my brother always pick the brotherman over the otherman jkjk

finally someone recognizes my QB why is rothlesburger on this list he sucks

YEP

solid list FB but were is David Garrard he is a beast and will put um more touchdowns now iwth Troy Williamson and Jerry Porter and he hardly thors interceptions i would take him at # 9 instead of Cutler he can be unpredictable

kinda wacked. you leave off mcnabb because of his past injuries but yet you put brady at #1 knowing losing s.b. qbs cant even get their team to the playoffs the next year. and cutler? come on. whatever.

pretty sure Brady is the best, don't know what your thinking

cutler is a joke of a bloke

Roethlisberger is not a good fantasy QB... no Pitt QB is. he might win but he won't be top five.
good job on Marc Bulger and Derek Anderson
wondering why mcNabb gets snubbed here. even during his injuries he has always ranked high with or without a WR.... seems a bit bias. Cutler hasn't proven himself and just lost a pro bowl WR.... I don't see him in top 10 this year.

Roethlisberger had 32 touchdowns last year and he added even more weapons around him this offseason. How could he not be a good fantasy quarterback? Plus Javon Walker didn't even do anything last year with the Broncos. He only had 26 catches for 287 yards and only played 8 games. So even though he left, Brandon Marshall was already going to be the number one receiver.

i agree FB

and how many TDs for Ben the year before???(18 his previous career best) not to mention any other steelers QB for the last 20 seasons? Its not normally a pass happy O.... possible it was a fluke year thats all i'm saying.(guy has his best career year and eveyone thinks that is how it will be forever) I will personally guarantee he doesn't throw 30 this year.... i watch every damn steelers game and I can tell you he isn't that great.
Also he added weapons? Sweed is a rookie, pretty sure he'll see limited time and have little affect on their offense.

Jay Cutler threw 14 picks to 20 TDs.... 11 fumbles thats not too good of a ratio, also losing your starting RB doesn't help.
Mcnabb in one of his worst seasons since his rookie year threw only 7 picks to 19 TDs.... 9 fumbles(career worst)
He was coming off an injury we all know takes time to heal.... has no WR threat to catch 100 passes and has more than proven himself in the past....
but hey pick who you want, I won't be pickin a number 2 fantasy Qb over a number 1

32 TD's sound like pretty good fantast IMO

marc bulger is our quarteback, i'll say it again MARC BULGER IS OUR QUARTERBACK. great list, still waiting for VY to get that retarted way he passes corrected

I don't know Mcnabb has to be some where in that list... Cutler really has not showed me anything yet he has been decent but to put him over Vince young, and mcnabb But you know whats funny.... If matt leinardt can stay healthy that team is damn scary.... And cutler just lost walker...

all those people you mentioned all have a pro bowl receiver Cutler had Javon, but bet on Brandon Marshall to get a couple Marc had Isaac still has torry, manning omg has harrison (there goes my hero) and wayne (best WO coming into next yea, moss wont get you 23 tds dont forget SB curse son) brady has moss and mcnabb has fitz (curtis + Brown +Jackson) LOLso despite all the crap youre talking about mcnabb 4 NFC championships aint shabby in fact its pretty damn good dallas cant talk cus the score in the fiirst round says it all

You know it's funny to see how easy people forget his talent. I say forget them, let them pick these other guys. I'd love to pick McNabb as my starting fantasy QB late rounder and run all over ya'll. Pick Roethlisberger, Cutler, Anderson, Bulger or hasselback over him please.... If I get one of these guys I'll gladly trade you straight up for Dmac.

We are defly havin a Yard fantasy football league with these clowns pickin like that

lol

i agree
