First NFL Offseason

It has been a while, but I am back in the Yard and set to be a regular. I've been crazy busy this off-season between football, school, and travel. I completed the second part of the NFL's Harvard Business Program, which was even more phenomenal than the first. I learned an incredible amount about business, and this time I wasn't tricked by the wiley veterans into buying them dinner. An expensive dinner. A ridiculously expensive dinner.

Being a Bengal, there is never a dull moment: battling in OTAs with the other safeties for the two starting spots, fielding incessant media (and fan) inquiries about Ocho, the new defense under our new defensive coordinator, etc. Reebok has had me out pushing the new Hex-Ride, it's newest cross trainer. Like I said, it's crazy, but I am super grateful because playing in the NFL has already afforded me tremendous opportunities, like traveling to my family's native Nigeria.

Amid all the off-season chaos, I managed to return to Nigeria for the first time in 18 years. I just came back on Tuesday, and don't yet have the words to describe the trip adequately other than to say it was a trip I had waited a long time to take. Most of my family still lives there, and it was a motivating both personally and professionally.

I am currently in Florida preparing for the season and should have some time on my hands so I will be able to catch everyone up on everything--especially my trip to Nigeria.

How is it up there in Nigeria

Welcome back to the Yard.

Chinedum, I'm a soon-to-be second year student at HBS and working for the Yard this summer, thanks for the b-school love! You're a pretty good writer, are you practicing for application essays?!?

Chinedum.....Reebok has you out pimping their new shoes? That is GREAT man! Congratulations! You are the perfect example of a guy that is taking advantage of every opportunity given to him. Keep up the good work and I am excited to see you and Marvin Whie as the future of the Cincinnati Bengals.

I hate Dublin Coffman!

Chinedum, nice blog man.
What's your outlook on the defense this year? Are things genuinely going to be different (and better) or is it wishful thinking?

Yo Chinedum, welcome back to work, I hope the vacation and Nigeria found you well brother. Now let's talk about you telling "ocho cinqo " to get out of Cinnci and put on the Silver and Black. Just kidding man, no but seriously, talk to him.. just kidding again....ummmm errrr yeah.

Chinedum, good luck this season. Except against the Ravens! LOL.

Good to hear your psyched up for the season. You were my favorite player to watch on the D last season. I hope you earn yourself some more playing time. Can't wait to see you laying some hits out there!
Good to hear you were able to visit family in Nigeria. I can imagine it would focus your perspective and help keep you grounded.
Best of Luck!

Good luck this year. Make us Domers proud!

Chinny...Just wanted to let you know that we are calling you Duke Nukem after the video game and because you just seem to blow people up! I even have a custom jersey of yours with that on the back of it!

Glad to see that you could make it to Nigeria this summer but I can't wait to watch you crush the opposition! By the way, are you still going to throw out the first pitch at a reds game or did Shayne Graham steal your thunder?

Yo Chin, congrats on making it back to Nigeria man.
If you guys play st. louis, holla at me
and send me some of those shoes

Chinedum!
Loved you at ND man. Me and my brother will always remember you blowing up Calivn Johnson against GT in the opener a few years back. Good luck this year!

Ahh, now I see why it's been four months since your last blog.
