Hello Michael Turner, goodbye Warrick Dunn

The Atlanta Falcons signed Michael Turner to a 6-year, $34.5 million deal today. The move makes Jerious Norwood the logical backup and most likely puts Warrick Dunn on unemployment. It also significantly decreases the chances that Atlanta will draft Darren McFadden, who now may fall to the Oakland Raiders at #4. Gulp. Atlanta could be looking to bring in Matt Ryan with the 3rd overall pick. The Falcons seem doomed to walk the Earth with a below average receiving corps, but if the second of those two moves take place, they'll have sured up their QB and RB position for the next half decade. Nice start to the post Bobby Petrino era.

Turner will never be spectacular, but this is a great pickup for the Falcons. He's averaged 5.5 YPC and has virtually zero wear and tear on his body. The Chargers are going to miss this guy when LT does eventually get hurt for an extended period of time.

Man!!!! I am mad.. I hope DMC doesnt go to the Raiders!!!

Turner has everything someone needs to be a feature back, shame he was playing behind Ladainian all those years. As an NIU student, can't wait to see him in action.

oakland needs mcfadden!

Oakland needs a lot!!!

Nice we went offensive in the free agency, now lets get Jake Long in the draft and playoffs here we come!!!

great signing by the falcons

Well it looks like now defenses are just going to put 8 in the box against the Falcons considering the duo of Turner and Norwood. The only problem is teams are going to make Chris Redman beat them and even if they draft Matt Ryan it will take a year or two for him to develop.

Is Warrick going to Philly? Everyone else is.

I know he would go along great with Asante Samuel, Larry Fitzgerald, Randy Moss, Chris Clemons and Antwan Odom.

and the 3289 others that are going to Philly

I think it might be up to 4000 by now. The are going have a tough time cutting down to the final 53 after training camp.

Sometimes I think the Falcons believe they are playing in a six feet and under rec league.

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA. Too funny.

Billy Barty at QB.

sad to see micheal go, he will be a solid guy while atlanta works out the qb position

The falcons have stepped their game up by signing Turner! Although I am sad that he will not be with the Chargers; I am sure he can hold his own! He has proven to be a pretty Solid! He is really going to do his thing in the ATL and I am too excited that I will be there to witness it for the next four years!

Just too bad he has to go to a team that is rebuilding, but they got them a good back to build around. I still think it's going to be another year or two before ATL can get back into the running for anything. Good luck.

If they can draft a true starting quarterback in the south they should be in the running for a playoff appearance. Sure they aren't in danger of winning the nfc let alone the superbowl, but playoff appearances attract players.

Maybe they can get Vick on a work release program and work him back into the lineup.

The Chargers are really going to miss him. LT is nearing 30 and showed his true colors this year in the AFC Championship game. Spoles is only a third down back, and I don't think Andrew Gross is ready for the back up role. I guess the Bolts will be selecting a RB with one of their 3 picks.

I meant Tyrone Gross. I went to school with Andrew gross. LOL!! Freudian.
