JaMarcus Russell: The Time is Now!

He is finally going to go through all of the mini-camps, OTA's and the Training Camp. We all read the rumors that he was north of 300 lbs. and discovered that the stories weren't true. He is a big guy and keeping his weight down will be something that have to be constantly monitered.

Coming to the Oakland Raiders as the No. 1 overall draft choice in 2007, now is the time for QB JaMarcus Russell to step up and take control of the offense.

He is huge--6'6" and 255 lbs.--with a howitzer for an arm. His weight has been the topic of discussion by some sportswriters of late, but once again a rumor by--you guessed it--an unnamed source.

Saddled by a lengthy contract holdout, it took JaMarcus Russell a while to ascend to the starting spot. The business part of the NFL clearly tooks its toll on the young quarterback, but his representatives negotiated with Al Davis and fought hard to get the contract numbers they were after.

This delay cost JaMarcus the majority of his rookie season. Ending months of negotiations and one of the longest rookie holdouts in recent history JaMarcus Russell signed his deal on September 11, 2007--basically, the second week of the season. It caused him to miss the majority of mini-camp, training camp, the entire preseason and the first two weeks of the season.

yes!! we were just all talking about his weight issue, if he can get that under control and keep it there, he's going to get the job done!!!!

we were girlie thats right his weight worries me. he is massive with a tremendous arm but still i'm stuck on the weight good write up and i hope he can control it so he can get the job done

I think he will be fine, the media hacks will talk about his weight forever. It is something he will have to keep under control. As far as his performance on the field he will be fine and far better than last year.

true bout the media here's to preseason and beyond

I think J-Rock's going to be special. He is incredibly mobile and poised for his stage of the game. He has all the right tools around him to really build something powerful for years to come. I just hope they can get some chemistry and a rhythm going early in the season. This will be a fun season!

Thanks RedditAndrews, I agree he will be special. I think we will see a much improved JR this season.

I like Russel he is a big boy!!! He reminds me alot of Culpepper!!!

No doubt, Reds1214. I think he will have a good year.

If Javon Walker can be the player he was and McFadden can be the player he is supposed to be it will really help him out, if not it'll be another long year in Oakland.

???

hes actually 269 according to himself

Russell has a cannon for an arm, but it won't do him any good unless the O-Line can keep the dogs off of him and McFadden. If that works out, then the Raiders should have a potent offense.

Does Russell still do his offseason workouts at the Golden Corral?

???

Only if LenDale comes by and picks him up.

Ah I see what's going on here, no why come to someones thread and mess it up? Thank You fiverings for the attention you've shown me. I'll be sure to pass that along.

I See, i feel sick to my stomach over this. IK i apologize, i had no idea my brother coming to your blogs would bring such a mess of your thread, but i will now get that corrected with the yard, thanks!!!

i know who's responsible and it saddens me........very much so.

man that's a shame yeah i figured as much as well

all the negative's got fixed cool funny we were sitting right on this thread watching it all go down, i will not forget that either.
russell given the weight issue, which i could careless about, only because i do think the media blew it out or proportion has a sick arm and he's gonna be fine his o line is gonna take mighty good care of him.

???

I have been reading your blogs for a while now on Bleacher. This one in particular hits a nerve with me only because you are completely right about the media trumping up his weight. My sister CK told me you were in the yard now and i'm glad you are here. I better start logging into my account here more now that I have actual news to read.

Now why would someone thumb my reply down?

thank you very much whomever fixed that. if you dislike raiders news then why would you be here. moving right along now. I fear my sister was right about the yard, however I will reserve my judgement because I'm a raiders fan and not here to toy with anyone else, mearly to read Raiders News

I was trying to figure that out as well. I have no idea it wasn't done by me!

the way it's been explained to me by my sister, there are a few people on here with far to much time on their hands, multiple accounts to thumb up and down. Be yourself and pay no mind to those that fall behind you IK, it mearly means you are two steps ahead

Thanks man I am both humbled and honored that you enjoyed the post and toook the time to comment. Your sister is special. My goal is to always break out the real news.

That is much appreciated. I'm going to check out your new one now.

mrbarker1982 we can rap anytime. I love talking to all football fans and especially speaking to all Raiders fans but as always some clowns will try to come in and mess up a good thing. Just like dealing witha bad call by a referee I'll work through it. Thanks for reading.

agreed and no problem like i said i've been reading your stuff for a while over at bleacher, when i found out you were in the yard here i was equally pleased. either spot is fine with me (to read) hope your holiday weekend is going well
