No Fitz, No Moss... But...

that link is the official link to espn's breaking of the fitz signing, im sure yall seen it already.

i know we dont like to start rumors, and im not trying to do that, i just voicing my opinion here real quick. Larry Fitz would of been a hell of an addition to the bird, and so would Moss... We could still land tory holt, Rams are interested in Lito, and they could take lido and the #1 for Holt, and the rams draft a wr, cut some salary and rebuild, which is what looks like whats going down in St Louis. I hear Chad Johnsons name, but, i think we have less chance landing him, and if we did, id shave my eyebrows and put that video up on youtube. I also heard, lee evans, and other names. What i dont understand is, if the Cards want some salary space, why not trade Anquan Boldin to the Eagles? Who knows what could happen, the eagles and cards been talking, how does anyone know its about fitz? Could be about Boldin too... Like i said, im not starting this as a rumor, im just expressing a thought i had, and i want to hear some opinions. Im not saying the eagles even said a word about Boldin, who knows... im just saying, it would be logical on the cards and eagles sides...

Not to stray from your Boldin point, but don't you think that Lito and a first is a lil much for just Holt? I certainly do. As much as I would like to have Holt on our roster for a couple of years I'd rather have Lito and this year's first round pick.

I'm thinking we may package Lito and some picks (since we have 12 in this year's draft) to move up in the first round and land a stud (eg: Vernon Gholston, Sedrick Ellis or Jake Long depending on how far we could move up). Otherwise, I see no reason to part with Lito, but that's just me, and Im just an Eagles fan who loves a great defense.

Back to your Boldi idea . . . I really can't say. I know most Eagles fans would love his physical play and speed on our team, myself included, but now that Zona was able to rework Fitz' deal, I'm sure Boldin is next. In my opinion, those 2 WR benefit from eachother too much to split them up.

if we dont draft a wr, the only other thing i want to see us get is an O lineman, or a safety....

I'd love to see the Iggles draft a WR. How come I don't see more people on this site begging for an O-Line? DNab had 2 seconds to throw the ball all year. What have you done to stop the Giants from sacking him 12 times and putting him on his hind quarter every other pass play?

THis is my first post, so dont kill me... After reading tons of "ideas/Rumors" over the last few weeks about Moss & Fitz, I've finally come to the realization that we wont get a Dominant #1 WR... I understand the desire that the coveted big/speedy/physical widout creates, but I was a bit skptical about the perceived value of T Holt... So I did a little research, and found out that there are only 2 WR in the entire NFL that have made the probowl every year since the 2005 season... Mr Holt and Ocho Cinco... Which brings me to this question... Would a GM in the league trade for a perrennial (4 times in a row) pro-bowl WR, thats 30-31 years old? Yeah, but that sounds like only one person... AL DAVIS. We dont sign Free Agents in their 30's, we don't overpay players for what they did for other teams. Moss is a complete enomely (Sp?). But then again, Moss is the best WR in the last 12 years. As Eagles fans know, our M.O., during the Banner/Reid administration has been to slightly overpay younger players, still in their rookie contract, as to save cap space later... Fitz would have been a perfect Eagles addition...Holt, 85, D.Driver, Houshmanzetajones,(Some of the other 08 Pro-bowl WR's) would not be... SOOOOOO, it appears as though we're going to have wait till the Draft, ask the Rams or Cardinals which WR they would pick with the first rounder, and hope we actually get it right once... Or we can hold our breath and wait for the salary cap cut day in June or July, to see what comes available... The situation we find ourselves in now, is very similar to when you realize that your marriage is over... You say, well I tried. This isn't how I envisioned my life to be, but i guess its better staying in a bad relationship... T.O. come to mind? Take care.

Yea, I agree. Holt is great for the offense he is in. I love DNabb, but accuracy is not his fortay. Bulger (and Warner) are/were the right QB's for Holt to succeed. We need a big and tall WR to help us in the red zone. Good call on asking other teams who they would draft haha, when we rely on our decision makers we get Freddie Mitchell (picked ahead of Steve Smith, Chad Johnson, and Reggie Wayne in 2001). I guess it's a lost cause, but I still think Roy Williams would do a lot for us. Also, it wouldn't hurt to get a good PR/KR as special teams lost us a couple games.

It's pretty funny that you posted this, because I JUST said this to someone today! I had read (I think on a Cardinal's message board) that Boldin and his agent were watching the Fitz situation very closely, because they planned on getting a similar deal to his if the Card's restuctured his contract. If that's what Boldin asks for, and they won't do it for any reason.............I'll take him!

Realistically though, we probably won't get that #1 WR that we want, and then they'll draft one with that 1st pick and we'll end up with another Freddie Mitchell.

as freddie mitchell said himself, id like to thank god for my hands LOL ill never forget that!

i like boldin more than fitz, even though fitz is more durable... boldin is a beast... we need a beast... we need to get curis to the slot reciever! imagine what mac 5 could do with that?

who do u like out of the WRs in the draft?

no fitz, no moss, no boldin, no holt
april 26th here we come

aint like andy reid and them arent trying...

its not like we didnt know we werent gonna get him

bullshit recievers? are you kidding me? sure they arent #1s but they are still good curtis and brown were in the top 5 duos for receptions if we dont get a #1 reciever through a trade im hopin for either desean jackson or eddie royal and its not like we had a problem getting down the field we jus ad problems in the redzone so im also hopin for hardy

Limus Sweed is my #1 but I'd defintiely take Hardy if he were to fall to the 2nd round.

Or trading back up in the 1st round with the Chargers and snaking Hardy there.

sweed is good too

ya lito and a 1st for holt? clean it up guy

that wasnt my deal, i heard that proposal before.. 1st rd pick def too much with shep also

I think Lito should go no matter what. Him for Holt, straight up sounds fair to me. Every mock draft around says the owner of the 19th overall pick will have Sweed, Doucet, and Jackson to choose from. If the FO wants to start rebuilding the DB position for the future, the Eagles could take someone like Flowers and have 2 of the best corners in the business and 1 of the best free safties showing him the ropes. Fitz made the mistake, not Philly. Arizona will never have to worry about ordering a Super Bowl ring

holt is to old we need someone young wo really wants to win

same age as randy moss

Has anyone heard any rumors about Andre Johnson. The texans have apparently made an attempt for Lito. that we know.. but would they be willing to trade andre you think?

I don't like any WR in the draft, they are all 3-4 years away from being good, and that is assuming that they develop into a decent player at all. There is alot of risk involved, and no really special WRs in the draft this year. its a crapshoot, not to mention it doesnt fit our needs. 3-4 years from now eagles will be rebuilding, dmac will be out, so will tre and runyan and weapon x. Realistically we have 2-3 years left to make a run at the superbowl, and then its down hill for the birds.

We idiotically signed Kearse TKO and Howard all of who did absolutely nothing to benefit the Eagles. Now we need to make the one move for a veteran player that will actually make us a winning team... get Dmac a #1 WR. It doesnt really matter if we over pay or not, draft picks are crapshoots anyway, and with sheldon and asante, keeping lito makes no sense when he will only play 20% of snaps in nickel/dime, and he has such a good trade value right now. If we keep him and he gets injured again this season, his value goes WAY down. There is no way for us to get a #1 without overpaying... other teams are well aware of our desperate need for a wideout, they aren't dumb, and they will use that to make us overpay.

So basically the eagles are at a crossroads right now: they can continue to be the organization that runs things like a business, and wouldnt ever over-pay for a player, or we can bite our lip just this once and agree to overpay and dangle Lito and a 1st rnder and what ever else it takes for a #1 like Ocho,Holt, Roy, or Boldin. Dmac needs that #1 to get to a superbowl. Without it, he lacks confidence in his WRs, and when we get to the playoffs and they can't get open, it'll be all she wrote.

Just once the eagles need to throw caution to the wind and go balls out for a legit #1. Go for that superbowl, end the torment of the philly sports fans, 25 years of sucking is long enough... give us a championship.

If were keeping McNabb, at least have enough sense to get him a WR. We don't have anything close to a No.1. Do whatever it takes to get Ocho Cinco or Roy Williams. Im willing to overpay for those two.

will you people 4get about andre johnson hes short and he's garbage if you think were gonna line up two receivers under 6ft and be a threat to anyone your smoking crack

Tory Holt? C'mon guys, why not just trade for Joey Galloway or Terry Glenn. We need a strong, young, absolute stud WR. We aren't going to get it in trade or FA. That leaves only 1 place, and I think we need to start thinking this way (considering we don't have a choice!). Why buy a player when we can pick & groom one to be the next big thing, draft a WR w/ our #1 pick!

if we trade for old ass torry holt, ill kill myself...i wouldnt even trade lito straight up for him, not to mention a pick, dont get me wrong though, i think holt is good, thats it GOOD...hes a great route runner, and he has chemistry with bulger and that wacky offense under a dome in nice conditions on carpet...
to be completely honest, looks like the eagles and cards have no interest of doing business together especially after we begged for fitz and they said noooooo, so boldin is a def 0% chance of coming here. the only glimmer of hope left is roy in detroit...if we cant work a trade which i dont see happening either it looks like the damn draft again and btw eagles fans, if you are a fan like me you know we will go overrated lineman in the first round and then receiver in the second who no one has heard of...sorry, just a lil bumbed over fitz, but the truth hurts when it hit me in the face

"curtis and brown were in the top 5 duos for receptions"

too bad receptions don't win you games. we need a number one receiver because the guys we have now will not get this team to the super bowl. i'm sick of having a bunch of softies on this team (reggie brown, i'm looking at you...and curtis too. don't believe me? go back and watch the film from the miami game.)

but i'd like to take this opportunity to give larry fitzgerald my biggest FUCK YOU. you showed your true character today. you are nothing but another money hungry jerkoff. i hope your $40mil makes you happy, because your sorry ass team will never even make it out of the NFC west. but hey, with all that money, maybe you can buy a super bowl ring. i'll see you at the linc this fall bitch.

I would like to see us get (WR Malcom Kelly or CB Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie) he's a beast and under the radar and at the combine his speed was 4.2.Thats if we dont keep ''Lito'' neXt year. And Malcom Kelly is faster than Sweed and his hands are just as good with out any lagging injuries bothering him.

guys we wont draft a WR at are #1 pick every mock by a sane analyst has us getting the OT from Pit which is great but lets face it Andy said it himself were comfortable with are guys they think browns maturing and Avant is there big secret im telling u they thinki hes gonna be a beast so were gonna get maybe a wideout a the #2 pick if were lucky

f#ck torry holt. He's so old its not even funny. Boldin and 85 would make me as happy as a pig in shit though. gimme a wide receiver with their skills and i'll shave my god damn moms eyebrows. WHILE SHE'S SLEEPING......count it

torry holt i the same age as randy moss....

I'M GONNA ADRESS EVERYTHING YOU ALL HAVE BEEN SAYING: First-anything more than a straight up trade lito for holt, would be dumb(on our part) second-those of you who are saying holt is too old or not good enough, your a moron, i'm sorry, but your a moron, torry holt is one of the best wr's in the league and has been for awhile, also he's the same age as randy moss and you all know goddam well that if randy would have come to philly, you wouldnt have been calling him an old man, Third-lito is as good as gone, those of you who think he might be a bird next year need to wake up, have some coffee and a bowl of cheerios because u need time to think, really think, Fourth--boldin would be sweet, but just like i said about fitz, the cards would be idiots to let him go and therefore they probably won't, ALSO GUYS--fitz took a small pay cut to stay with AZ, so they got some more money to work with!!, Fifth--i couldnt agree more with the fact that we definitely need a wr first, dt second, safety third and o-lineman fourth( we obviously need a return man in the mix somwhere in there as well) Sixth--why does everyone keep calling for cromartie in the draft? dont you think we're stacked at cb? is it because he's a great return man? explain it to me!!!, Seven--as for offering fitz more--R U KIDDING ME?, we offered him too much as it was!! he was just fucking with us the whole time like a prick!! he never wanted to come to philly in the first place, i have no clue why he wouldnt but hey that's reality, Eight--stop listening to gcobb!!!, Nine--stop listening to NFL LIve!!, Ten--Hardy has got to be on our top 3 targets in the draft, I agree, TEN--the reality is, curtis is a SICK number 2, maybe one of the best in the league, reggie is gonna get better, i promise and he is a VERY solid number 3, i dont want either of those guys going anywhere, we just need our number one, Eleven--why is darren howard still on our team?, Twelve--sweed looks good, devin thomas looks good, malcolm is going to the bills so forget bim, desean looks good, Thirteen-mel kiper's a moron, don't listen to him--Fourteen--WE WILL NEVER GET ANDRE JOHNSON from the texans, he might be the best wr in the league and the texans would NEVER give him up, and those of you who say he sucks--ur either mentally handicapped or your thinking of andre DAVIS, you idiot--Fifteen--the difference between joey galloway/terry glenn and holt, is that galloway/glenn suck, Sixteen--we need a dt bad people!!! how come no one ever talks about that? we need depth eagles fans!!!, Seventeen---stop talking about DE's for christ sakes!!!!!! we're stacked u assholes!!!! Eighteen-dawkins is god, our d is gonna be sick this year, Nineteen--the most important thing for this entire upcoming season, no matter what, KEEP WESTBROOK HEALTHY, WITH BWEST WE ARE NOTHING, NOTHING!!!!!!!

sorry, i meant WITHOUT bwest we're nothing

Personally i think andy reid still hasnt recovered from the mitchell shock, if you ask me i think Fitzgerald is one of the more overrated WRs, i think Boldin has so much more to offer to the table. He is much more physical and frankly if u watch fitzgerald he cant run with the ball he always falls down he may be in the endzone but onl 10 times this seasonif you watch boldin you will see the perfect WR or pretty dang close to it

if we get torry holt why not pick up jerry rice and then we will win the senior citizen bowl. c'mon now lets get ocho cinco, maybe boldin, maybe roy williams, but how about one of the best that is out there.
HIS NAME IS STEVE SMITH, him and mcnabb would be unstopple.

for the 100th time, forget about ocho!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! also steve smith will never leave, in fact the panthers are looking towards the draft to give some much needed help

i'm just curious. do the birds know that the offense is the part of the team that is supposed to score the points. i really don't care anymore who it is we get we just need another name on offense. even if the guy doesn't do squat we need someone to take the heat off of westy. if not teams know you shut down westy and we're dead in the water.

agreed

well arizona isnt interested in what we have but the saints have been really trying to get lito i say lets bring in colston

Those of you who keep mentioning Steve Smith and other small receivers SHUT UP. We need a big receiver who scores touchdowns. We move the ball fine right now we just can't get in the endzone. Simple fact is that big physical receivers are great in the red zone. Panthers can keep freaking Smith. Second thing, Holt is amazing. He is only a year older than Ocho Cinco and he is the same age as Moss. Why does everyone call him an old man. Wake up.

colstein ur joking right guys got talent but hes there franchise #1 thats y they traded horn he aint going nowere

Stop talking, read my article For all that its worth; Eagles still got heart stop talkin about this we aint helpin the situation
