Rashard Mendenhall Robbed at Gunpoint

man, this is just messed up!!! thank u for the blog!!

I'm looking forward to seeing how people twist this as though it's Mendenhall's fault for quote-unquote putting himself in the wrong place at the wrong time. That is far too common a refrain (IMO) when it comes to athletes being victimized. Sometimes, you're the victim, plain and simple. Glad to hear that Rashard is OK. He'll be a great fit for the Steelers. Pair him up with Willie Parker and you've got a nice one-two punch.

Wow and to think he hasn't even been in the NFL for a week. Mendenhall's had a rough start he had a hamstring injury the first week of camp and now this. Your right Dewey this does occur way to often. I think that athletes should start being more cautious of who they get to know because if you do one thing wrong they can tell people where you live. Something bad can happen as we already learned from the Sean Taylor tragedy. I'm not saying though that's what happened with Taylor but I'm sure it has happened on numorous accasions. The main thing is that Rashard is OK and hopefully everyone in his family is as well.

mendenhall and parker are going to be a force like no other. i'm sorry this happened to him already, such a shame. you're right people will probably try to twist it, the whole 2 am thing. i'm just glad he wasn't hurt.

This story just reminds me of Sean Taylor, one of my favorite players, so sorry if I over reacted. Just seems like people are a little calloused sometimes. Didn't think I'd get flamed for promoting compassion.

There's got to be some kind of ring that's working the Chicago area. You don't just run up on somebody on the streets and it happend to be Rashard Mendenhall. These guys are watching the athlete's every move and waiting for the perfect time to move in. Scary situation.

Wow.....Dallas took a lot of heat for drafting Felix Jones instead of Rashard. Might have been the right move after all even though getting robbed is not his fault. Not a good start to his career.

It's very fortuneate that Rashard gave the criminals what they wanted. Granted there was a gun, but its a darn good thing that he kept his cool and didn't try to open a can of whoop-ass on them.

Money and jewelry can be replaced. Your health is way more valuable. Ask Jerome McDougle. He was not only car jacked but shot as well. And as a result, he lost out on yet ANOTHER season with the Eagles. Ridiculous in terms of bad luck.

Well if this 'ring' is watching anything then they would have been better off waiting until Mendenhall is more likely to have some more substantial cash/credit on him--because he's yet to sign his deal.
