Saints appear in no rush to sign Colston: Wink wink nudge nudge Philadelphia?

With less than three weeks remaining before the start of training camp, no new contract extensions appear imminent for New Orleans Saints receiver Marques Colston or guard Jahri Evans.

The team has had preliminary discussions with agents for the players, both of whom are set to become restricted free agents after this season. But unless things heat up in a hurry, don't expect anything to get done this month according to the Times-Picayune.

The negotiations, though, with these rising stars won't be as simple as they were with established veterans, such as defensive ends Will Smith and Charles Grant or tailback Deuce McAllister.

It's harder to determine the market for young guys like Colston and Evans, because as impressive as they've been so far, they still don't have lengthy track records. Colston's numbers compare favorably to top receivers like Chad Johnson, Reggie Wayne and Larry Fitzgerald

Okay, i know the Saints would be retarded to give Colston away, but couldnt we imagine for a second? Who would we have to give among

Considine, Howard, G Lew, Lito, or Sheldon? haha just kidding but anyways thats whats up

not happening..

Give it up people. I'm a big Eagles fan but, unless it happens then there is nothing to talk about.

THE EAGLES ARE NOT GETTING A WR! GET THAT THROUGH YOUR HEADS!

No need to be negative. If something does happen, then thats great. If not, Im still picking up Curtis for my fantasy team

The Eagles will not be getting a big-play WR before the start of the season. I hope it does happen but if it doesn't, I won't be mad at all. I like the Wideouts we have, epsecially D-Jax, Kevin Curtis, and Reggie Brown!

guys i kno i just wanted to let you know, and D-Jax man thats cool DMac B-West D-Jax nice ring to it

Lets be real here. If the Eagles were going to get another WR, they would have done it by now. In a trade or in the draft. What we have now is what were going to have this season.

please stop the wr crap, our team is what it is, there will be minor if any tweaks to our roster if any, jsut stop posting this wr sh.t

Not gonna get him. the only thing we may get is an other Donte Stallworth trade. I know I have done my bitchin about our wideouts but as long as we have D-MAC ,B-WEST and our new and improved Defense we should be ok with Kevin, Hank and Jason who show flashes of being great and Desean was a beast in college, and Dawks 08 thank you for this information.

desean still isnt signed and he has to learn the west coast offense so i dont see him doing a whole lot his first year other than as a return man/ deep threat. If the Eagles have a shot at Colston they should take it because of his skill and size but i doubt the Saints will let him walk simply because of his performances and his youth.

Here we go again. It just never seems to stop with the WR talk in all of these posts. Colston would be a dream come true for all of us. I'll keep my fingers crossed but i dont think it will happen.

Next year is going to be mayhem!!!!! Both Coulston and Henderson have 1 year left on their deals, Boldin has 1 year, and R Williams and TJ Houshmandzadeh too. Just to name a few

cant wait!

let him go man...he over explained that he freaking knows its not gonna happen...so why give him crap for shiot that he already said he knew!!!!

the eagles are going to regret not singing a all star receiver this season. They think that since they won the last 3 games of the season that they can get things back on track. Well lets look at the dallas came they won 10-6 they didnt have a good offense game the defense won the game for them. The next game was the saints well we can look at the saints as being one of the worst defenses in the nfl last season. The bills game still wasnt a great offensive game got lucky on a few plays, the one where mcnabb threw the pass and reggie brown fumbled and then kevin curtis picked it up in the endzone. I am making a point that they need more offensive help. I actually wished they acutally lost those last 3 games just to show the gm and andy reid that they need to bring more weapons to that offense

i disagree... bringing in a star receiver would make the eagles almost have to break the bank, the good ones get 9 mil a year and the eagles still have to sign the rest of their picks (Jackson and Laws) and prep for next year when theyll have to maybe resign Runyan and/or Thomas plus the two 1st rounders. Plus they will probably grant B West a new contract and maybe Lito too, so the if the Eagles got one they would be almost broke

A lot of people tend to look at the last 3 games of the season and wonder if they are signs of how 2008 will go. But it might be more accurate to look at the last 8 games of their season. They dominate the 4th Q against the Skins in DC, get past Miami(no big deal), go into Gillette Stadium and almost beat NE with Feeley under center, lose to Seattle-which I think they gave that 1 away with AJs 3 picks(terrible), lose by 3 to NY with both Westbrrok and Curtis having the high marks in the game, handle Dallas, handle NO, and finish out the Bills. These guys could have easily gone 11-5 or 12-4. Dallas was the only team to completely beat Philly. Everything else was a dog fight, with Philly playing a lot of backups too. DONT UNDERESTIMATE THE TALENT IN PHILLY

yeah that is true that they would have to break the bank but i dont think they will resign Runyan. But i do think they will resign Thomas

Brake the bank, brake the bank I can't remember the last time we broke the bank, becuz all the teams that brake the bank have won a superbowl before we dont brake the bank therefore no wins get my drift, I mean lets be for real you honestly think we can win a superbowl with Reggie Brown at #1 spot you got to be kidding me not in a million years would we win with this guy on our team unless we have the best defense in the nfl simple as that

exactly!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Is that suppose to be Colston in a Michigan State uniform? There's as good of a chance he's playing in East Lansing next year as there is he's in Philly.

i like the card you made..but there is no reason that i can think of for the saints to give up marques colston

this will never happen

let's just drop the wideout posts!!! reidtarded says everyone fears our receivers and he'll really stick by that thought til we drop 3-4 games in a row and d-mac can say i told you so!!! just gotta be happy with curtis, clown, avant, g-lew ( the only reason we keep him is cause the pats would snag him up.), baskett, jackson!!! our #1 will be west as usual and curtis #2 with booker, l.j. in the red zone!!! look for clown to be cut next year and we trade a number 1 pick to acquire a great playmaking vet!!! the saints are just waiting til the last minute for colston to give him an offer so that they won't pay as much money for him!!!

I agree with the people that say the Eagles are going to regret not getting a number 1 WR this season. I know alot of people are hyped about D-Jax as am I. However, if you've seen any of his interviews he sounds exactly like a receiver we used to have in "the People's Chump" Freddie Mitchell. He's already got an "I'm the man" attitude with nothing to show. I don't see him getting more than 20 catches this season unless someone gets hurt and his only real contribution will be on ST's. This is all we should and COULD hope for D-Jax. Let's just hope we didn't draft another Freddie "Failure" Mitchell

WE BETTER DRAFT CRABTREE NEXT YEAR WHOS WITH ME OO RAH

uh i guess what the hell we got 2 first round take Crabtree and trade the other one you know ya want to REID

we just can win a super bowl with these receivers we have now idc what any of yous say ITS NOT HAPPENING

This is the best WR corp that the Eagles have had since Barnett and Williams. Sure there was TO, but Pinkston and Mitchell werent very strong. WR isnt a 'need' of the team, its a 'want' of the fans. It isnt accurate to say Philly cant win with the guys, They already have!
