WHO ELSE IS TIRED OF THE EAGLES #1 WR RUMORS?!

I mean, maybe I'm the ONLY one here, but I'm tired of hearing a million and one rumors about the Eagles getting a #1 STUD WR.

All yous are doing are creating rumors, getting ur hopes up, and getting pissed off when it doesnt happen.

Would I LOVE for the Birds to land Boldin/Fitz/Roy/Ocho Cinco? YES YES and YES!!! I would be ECSTATIC!

But its not going to happen.

Anyone else feel the same way?

I have mixed feelings about this one because the Eagles always let us down but I really think that Andy held onto Lito and got the Panthers 1st rounder next yr in order to make a serious run for Ocho Cinco. You don't plan for the future by trading for a 1st rd pick next year when you have 2 of your best players (#5 & #36) pleading for playmakers that can make an immediate impact. THE FUTURE IS NOW! If theyre not going go out and get a #1 WR then you may as well trade away Mcnabb for another first rd pick, play Kolb, and start rebuilding because we'll never make a serious run at the super bowl. I hate to be negative, but its the truth.

im tired of people posting articles about being tired of hearing rumors, on a site that has section for rumors. but yes im tired of the #1 WR rumors too

the way i figure/hope it, the eagles have two 1st round draft picks, and the bengals have stack their WR core, to add younger depth and options, the player that wears 85, who has entered his 30's, will not be traded until june to avoid the 8mil hit, even then he wouldnt be moved until he skips some mandatory team stuff, so he can be fined. then i see "a lesson learned and moving on" in cinci, of course thats only if he sticks true to his word. and i know that is the kind of speculation that this article is against, so im sorry pecophilly,

Haha no worries. Thanks for the input!

i still think they will package next years first round and lito for a receiver....june 1st is when the bengals wouldnt take the cap hit if they traded chad so that could be the day...

the writing is on the wall "IMO"
"SPEED KILLS" .. I think the eagle's are looking to get quicker, and if "McNabb to DeSean" turns-out to be a redzone threat (ie: McNabb to Owens) yhen he is our #1 or if he opens the field for Curtis and "McNabb to Curtis/LJ/whoever"then we don't anymore WR's.
time will tell if we score 7's instead of 3's ... we will be fine with this group.

EXACTLY! Dont think DeSean will be a huge Red Zone threat, but with a healthy L.J. Smith and Mcnabb, we're bound to turn some of last years 3's into this years 7's!

I'm tired of the freakin rumors but i agree...we need a BIG, #1 WR...so why did we draft DeSean Jackson when Limas Sweed and Malcolm Kelly were both still available

I think the focus this off season was special teams, and the icing on the cake was desean.

return specialist that is mentored by jerry rice

Just like sugmg4, I have mixed feelings. I 'm sick of the false rumors, but you can't deny that the moves they made were weird. Both by the Birds and by the Bengals and Cards. Having Lito and an extra 1 for next year is a major bargaining chip. The Cards and Bengals use high draft picks on WR. Philly Holding on to Lito for right now, when he is unhappy. June 1st, when 8 plus mill is not counted on their cap if Ocho is kept till then. If they keep Lito, that's fine too. But there is no denying that keeping Lito and getting that 1 for next year, is not strange. Get rid of the Browns (Reggie & Sheldon)

whoa sheldon is a keeper, groom him for safety, and then demps can take over b-dawks spot when decides he decides to retire

and yeah "when decides he decides"

mixed about it but i agree with u in some ways

no way a wr comes here. Plus if chad becomes available, who do you think wins the bidding war, cowboys or us. i just don't see andy trying to hard to get him. When jerry jones and CO will most likely give tons.

I REALLY think Cincy isnt going to trade Chad Johnson. If he doest show up, then guess what? He pays back his money. I think they really wanna send a message to him. Besides, they already have T.J. Housh and picked up a few WR's in the draft. They dont really NEED Ocho Cinco.

Tell you the truth, idk if I would want the Eagles to have him. Can anyone say T.O.?

Amen to that, pecophilly

Hallelujah! haha

why does everyone continue to compare chad to T.O? about the only two things him and owens have in common is their ability to play the game, besides i think i speak for every eagle fan here in saying i could'nt give a dam what it takes to get that super bowl title to philly, im gonna go out on a limb here even if the only way for us to win a super bowl was to resign T.O, i'd welcome him with open arms, who cares about chads attitude keep him happy long enough to win a super bowl, i'd sell my soul to the devil to see the birds raise that lombardi trophy

pecophilly,

Yes, I quite tired of people crying for a WR and posting messages and articles about how the Eagles are definitely going to trade for Chad Johnson, Williams, or Boldin. The Eagles will be a playoff team this year if the offensive and defensive lines play well.

The defense needs to force more turnovers. Special teams need to allow the offense to get better field position and prevent big punt returns and kickoff returns. We can't afford to fumble two punts in one game (Packers), obviously. The offense needs to be much more efficient in the red zone (TD's, not FG's).

I'm confident about this season with the players we have right now. I hope Asante Samuel earns his paycheck. The goal line defense was spectacular last season.

I agree with you - the Bengals won't trade Chad Johnson. Let's say that they do. I certainly don't want another selfish WR who makes a spectacle of himself and cries when the ball isn't thrown his way.

You posted a good article. The Eagles came very close to beating the Patriots, Packers, Seahawks, and Giants last season. Those teams were four of the best teams in the NFL in 2007. They let Chicago march 97 yards down the field with no timeouts and less than two minutes in the game for the winning TD at home. The Birds need to play up to their ability. They have the talent to contend for the Super Bowl this season.

The Giants went 8-8 in 2006. They didn't add any significant free agents before last season. They drafted a few good players. They lost Tiki Barber and Jeremy Shockey. They still won the Super Bowl.

Great comment!

We were ranked 6th (or 7th) in offense and 10th in defense. We had A LOT of bad bounces last year, and things not go our way. And we still ended up 8-8.

Im really excited for this year, more excited than 2004 with T.O. I love the young defense flying around on the field. Cant wait!

Go birds!

The O-line will play great. They were all injured last year, except for Jamal Jackson.

Chad Johnson is now quite unpopular in Cincinnati.

wer not gonna get a "so called" number 1 receiver..we have 2 number ones nxt year..wer gonna get 1 in the draft..use those 2 num 1s to trade up and grab Texas Techs' Michael Crabtree..rnough said... peaCe

I forgot to mention that the Eagles' run defense season improved vastly last season. I think Eagle fans would agree that our run defense was a huge weakness in 2006.

The Eagles lost to the Saints in the playoffs that season as a result of their porous run defense. Mike Patterson, Brodrick Bunkley, and our LB's played very well against the run in 2007. I think Trevor Laws will help to solidify the run defense in 2008.

I am! The Eagles are not going to get Roy Williams!!!!
