Which 2nd Round Receiver Will Have Best Rookie Year?

After no wide receivers went in the first round of the NFL Draft, there were a total of 10 wide outs who went in the second round. So which of these players can make the biggest impact early? Let's take a look.

Desean Jackson should have an immediate impact for the Eagles. Just in Special Teams alone he should succeed!

DeSean Jackson!!

I hope so, but not sure how his game will translate to the league

jackson for sure he's fast hell and has amazing hands can't wait to see him returning kicks

Agreed: DeSean Jackson.

Jerome Simpson. With Carson throwing him the ball and Chris Henry gone, Simpson will be a stud in the NFL.

the thing ur forgeting is carson palmer sucks

I'm sure the 2 time Pro Bowler's feelings aren't hurt by your uninformed toddler knowledge of football.

Eddie Royal, Broncos, ya digg

my boy is a big hokies fan and we watch games all the time and you could be right on that one... royal is nice!!! but hey, you know i cant go against the dude i been preaching since day 1.... DESEAN....

I think James Hardy will surprise people as an endzone threat for the Bills. Trent Edwards could makes some strides, and if he finds an eye for the 6'6 wideout, it could work out really well.

as big as he is, he has a hard time gettin off the line of scrimmage so... ??? but 6'6 is almost a certainty to make somewhat of an impact

I love how they mention thrash as one of the key parts of the recieving game.

Thrash wasn't mentioned as key, just that he was part of the receiving corps.

Ya, it would have been nice if the Niners, who were last in practically every offensive category last year, drafted DeSean Jackson, but, hey, that would have been the smart thing to do

James Hardy. He will be the go-to guy in the redzone for the Bills. He pretty much already has a starting job opposite of Lee Evans.

I think that Desean Jackson will have a huge season, mainly because he is almost expected to be a Devin Hester for the Eagles. And with his 4.35 speed, he really can do it. Malcolm Kelly has the skills to be great, but with Santana Moss, Randel El, and Devin Thomas *also talented* neither of the two Redskin Rookies won't have as good stats as Desean Jackson will.

James Hardy will have the best rookie year of all the WR class. He's a huge red zone threat and Buffalo doesn't really have a "go to guy" other than Lee Evans (who is better at stretching the field).

Plus, if Lee Evans starts out like he did last year, they'll definitely need a go-to guy. He single-handedly ruined my fantasy team.

Limas Sweed will have the best rookie year, not only because he was the best receiver taken in this years draft but he has Parker/Mendenhall to open things up for him on the outside.

Sweed. hes playing on the best team. There offense was putting up big numbers last year, and he will be catching passes opposite Hines Ward. The Steelers are no longer a grind it out team. Sweed will be this years best reciever.

No longer a grind it out team? What have they added besides Sweed to make you say that? They just got Mendenhall who should play the same role that Bettis did...wear teams down so Willie can run past them. Oh and Philly will be better than Pittsburgh this year...tune in Sept 21 for proof.

to bad he has big ben as his qb

hes a fantastic game manager

malcolm kelly will be this years dwayne jarrett.... watch!!! big and slow reciever who is irrelevant to his team and makes NO impact, plus now that were keepin lito, its gonna be hard to throw on the BIRDS!!!

Look Lets look at the Big Picture the Name of the Game is Called Sudden IMPACT Meaning that these Teams pick WR That they feel will meet there needs and will be an impact to there team... Now my point is that In regards to the Redskins having to new WR i Highly Highly doubt they will have A Sudden Impact Why Because they have to Fit the System of there Respective team and it could take them a yr or 2 or maybe 3 to get into the thick of things and help the Offense....

We as the Eagles Got a Steal an i think Desean Jackson is going to have the Best Season because it is proven how lethal his speed is we are using him mostly for returns an special plays but should have the most immediate impact because of the style of play we have WEST COAST OFFENSE....

Disregard the Height factor You can be 7 ft tall an still be a bust or if not get better after a few yrs in the system...

Lets out way this Real quick Most Shorter WR during there First Yr and on have had Success as a Rookie an the Yrs following as opposed to Regular or Tall WR.... Tell me im wrong because i know im not wrong on that one...
Esamples Devin Hester Ted Ginn Jr.(could be better if on a better team with better qb) lee Evans, Jerry Rice ( he wasnt tall either if anything no more than 6'0) Steve Smith (Carolina P) Santana Moss L. Coles A Randel El, Wes Welker..... ETC

There have only been several big WR that have proven to be Great an a threat still to this day R. Moss T Owens Chad Johnson( average Height) PLaxico B. TJ HOuz..... other than that the shorter guys out last an out weigh more than the Big Threat WR....

I think Desean Will have the Best Season PERIOD... He fits our OFFENSE best

I'm so scared that Desean Jackson will be the next Peter Warrick.......does anyone else have this feeling? He shorter and skinnier than Todd Pinkston was.

i thought something like u until i heard jerry rice talk. the main thing with small guys is getting off the line and playing bump and run so even if jackson had speed, he could still not be a deep threat if he couldnt get off the line well, byt jerry rice said he was great at using his speed and moves for things like that. he also said he is bulking up, is a har worker, and runs fantastic routes. watch the vid of jerry at cals pro day on youtube to see it. i think desean will be this years best rookie wr with one of the leages elite qb's throwing to him

todd pinkston was tall??? 6'3-6-4, comparing the 2 is just ridiculous. Theres NOTHING to compare..second Jerry Rice was skinny but also 6 foot 2....

So can anyone explain why he lasted until the second round and why teams that needed a WR passed on him? And do you think Jerry Rice is going to come out and say that he's too small or doesn't run routes well? Players never bash other players publicly....Listen I hope he's a player and helps the Eagles, it's just their history of selecting wideouts that scares me I guess.

just look at what desean did and is doing in camp. in day one he had no drops and burned every corner just like in college. if rice didnt think he was good he just would have lied and said hes a great player. he wouldnt have gotten into specifics. when interviewd he said specifically he gets off the line well and runs excellent routes. he also said some of his flaws like sometimes he makes cuts so fast it throws off his route. thats wat jerry was there for: to teach route running and work ethic and im guessing theyll stay in touch too

That's very refreshing news....

i want to say desean. That may be because im an Eagles fan though. I don't see hardy having a big season for the bills, however he could be a surprise. Trent Edwards is an upgrade at QB but i still don't think he is the guy of the future. I'm not sure how much playing time Sweed will get with holmes and ward on the field.(same for desean). I agree with the post above on kelly, bust!

hardy will have a tough start in the nfl. he was shut down by the cb we drafted that ikeawufgo guy or w/e his name is because he is great at jamming and hardy sucks at getting off jams. nfl corners will jam him and unless he learns to do better w/ that, he may be a bust. not only does jackson fit into the system perfectly and have a proven good qb, but he doesnt have huge stars that would over shadow him

I think it works well i know desean will be more in the slot as a WR but most of the CB's he will face are his height an remember after 5 yrds from the line of scrimage the Defensive tackles or ends cant touch you so that is an advantage to him... i might be wrong as to which position cant get to Desean after 5 yrds after the line of scrimmage but it something like that...

To be honest i think what the eagles are doing in all sides of the Team is Great because it seems like the coaches are trying to get the Starters and the Backsup ready to actually play so they can rotate them so everyone gets to play and rest an we worry less about injuries and they can all contribute that would be awesome tell me what u think
