Who Cares About Favre? Give Me Kurt Warner

You've got two options for QB:

Option #1 is 38 years old with 1 Super Bowl ring and 3 NFL MVP trophies. He's got a career QB Rating of 85.7 and a career completion percentage of 61.4. His best statistical year was back in 1995, when he bombed the pigskin for 4,413 yards, 38 TD's and 13 INT's.

Option #2 is 37 years old with 1 Super Bowl ring and 2 NFL MVP trophies. He's got a career QB Rating of 93.2 and a career completion percentage of 65.1 His best statistical year was in 1999, when he accumulated 4,353 yards, 41 TD's and 13 INT's.

Which one do you take?

Give me Jaws

Bottom line, Favre's wife is hotter!

Point well-taken. I think Kurt and his wife have matching haircuts.

wait...which ones Warner and which one is the wifey?? Im sooo confused???

And Mrs. Favre

I think the Hungry Actor might be adding Mrs Favre to the Burger

um, favre has 3 mvp trophies.... but whatever and i mean, he too had two superbowl appearances, just settin the record straight, not choosing sides

Yikes, that's embarrassing. I'm fixing it now. And our research monkey is fired.

hahahaha. if SB appearances count then Jim kelly is now top 3 ever.... marino moves up a notch but Elway wins hands down???

favre in 95 = dorsey levens, robert brooks, mark chmura, reggie white, leroy butler, sean jones

http://www.pro-football-reference.com/teams/gnb/1995.htm

warner in 99 = marshall faulk, isaac bruce, az zahir hakim, torry holt, ricky proehl, kevin carter, todd lyght

Setting the hardware argument (MVP trophies) aside, even though Warner has a higher career QB rating, I go with Favre. Favre is more mobile. Whether Favre will make the Jets contenders...who knows? The Jets did make some moves in the off-season, so perhaps if they stay healthy, they compete for a playof spot?

Watched the Jets/Browns pre-season game and they described the deal. The Jets gave up a conditional 4th round pick for Favre, but it can get higher. If Favre handles 50% of snaps this year, it's a 3rd, 70% of snaps and playoff appearance, it's a 2nd, and 80% of snaps and SB appearance, it's a 1st. My guess is that the Jets give up a 3rd round pick for Favre.

If the Jets can get a couple of productive years for Favre and perhaps a playoff appearance or two, not bad for a 3rd round pick. It will definitely put people in the seats and sell Jets gear...it's all about the $$$!

Kurt Sojwarner Truth...Ill take his non spirals over Favre anyday. Might I add Brett Favre will be at Nassau Colliseum today for JEts Practice, and its already sold out....

warner had two superbowl appearances also

awesome article... never even thought of this consideration.

How about this question... who had a better team Favre in 95 or Kurt in 99???

glad to see others realize Favre is OVERATED

not Overated , he is one of the best ...just the media and John Madden on his nuts like squirrels it gets to a point like OK, you win u win..BRETT FAVRE is A god.....

Whatever Kurt Warner always kept it real in my mind, bagging groceries then to Super Bowl MVP without too much attention...Classy Guy.....

I agree with BookerT. He's not necessarily "overrated" but there's so many guys out there that are underrated. That was kind of my point with this article - not necessarily that Warner is hands down the better QB, but that there should at least be a debate. Warner is a guy who put up a career comparable to Favre's, yet no one talks about him. Everyone is drooling over Favre, to the point that its beyond comprehension to think Favre could be a backup, yet where's the talk about Warner? There's a guy who can give you pretty close - if not the same or better - production to Favre, yet he's playing second fiddle down in Arizona without making any noise. Why aren't teams banging on Arizona's door for Warner like they did for Favre?

sorry Favre still overated in my eyes.... if he takes the Jets deep into the playoffs then we'll talk.
Kurt defly was a class act, I like him.
Brett was a class "act".... but really shady about things through it all. He showed his true selfish colors finally

Sorry im off the subject but---I was currently trying to book this guy at the WildHorse Saloon in Nashville but i slacked off for a sec and I missed a chance to meet a great guy and family mann.Im really hurt by his death.

takin favre.......he always seemed to do more with less, like em both tho actually, Warners off. in 99 was a lot of fun to watch

If I had to choose one to finish a game for me on the last drive, would proabably have to go with Favre. Warner benfited from the Martz offense and "The Greatest Show on Turf" with those receivers and Marshall Faulk at tailback. If Favre would have had weapons like that, he'd have another ring or two. Favre is a gambler and sometimes it has cost him.........prime example....last year against NY in the championship game, but I love his aggressiveness. Got to have that in a QB.

sometimes might think that is Dmac's biggest flaw.... he is efficient enuff to not throw many picks which is good(i think he gets hell from the press 4 every pick)... but doesnt toss it up any take a risk. Of course he has rarely had a WR that could make a decent fight for a jump ball(TO)

philly press is beyond ruthless, very efficient at making mountains outta moe hills

yeah thats a killer.... and the fans follow suit with our rumor mill style. damnit

He does have a pretty good INT/TD ration, no doubt. Hell of a lot better than Favre. Sometimes, I also think if he took more risks, they might be scoring a little more. Of course, having a good receiver who can fight for the ball when he does throw it up is essential to the equation.

I love them both both but lookin at the article Warner steped in my book

Interesting piece.

I've always thought Warner was underrated. Favre, on the other hand, is probably somewhat overrated given the amount of publicity he gets. However, isn't that part of why you trade for him in the first place? He's got that almost magical aura about him and you know that fans will be filling the stands and merchandise will be sold. Since the NFL is a business, that's why you want Favre more than you want Warner.

Due 2 Favre's durability and consistency, you have to go with him.
