Who wants to see a Real Game?

So many people are getting ready to watch the last game of the year. I wonder how many people want to see a "Real Game." I am talking about one that displays the courage, and heart. The display of athlete's giving their all for the NFL's ultimate prize. I am curious to know how many fans will set and watch on Sunday and really understand the game.

Who will really appreciate the 2-yard runs, not just the big throws, or a defense getting a three and out and forcing the offense to kick the ball. Who will admire those few athletes playing on Sunday whose names aren't Brady and Manning. What fan really knows what it feels like to do there jobs so others look good. Who will lay it on the line and fight through pain and injuries. Win the clock strikes midnight, who will be left partying and who will be left to console.

I can appreciate just like others a hard-fought game, but I have to ask myself, does the average fan want to see a Real Game or a blowout. Many people can see themselves in the shoes of the Giants, going up against a Mountain, that has turned everyone back, or trying to do something 18 other teams could not. As a professional, I admire the courage it takes to stand up against the odds, after all if you never take a chance you will never know how successful you can be.

are you looking to resign with the 49ers, and who do you think san fran should go after during off season via free agency and draft?

Marques, thanks for your wise thoughts and reminding us of the true meaning of the game.

Hey man, I would love to see this turn out to be a real tight game.I love defensive battles. And I'm sick of this game catering to the effing media. The Superbowl belongs on the field of the team with the better record. This game belongs in New England. I'm the furthest thing from a pats fan but I would LOVE to see the most important game played in some conditions harsher than a sunny 75 or however nice it is this time of year in AZ.

Great post. Have you ever checked out the HBCU Sports Blog? I know you are a Howard alum.

Hey Marq, thanks for reminding me why I need to sit close enough to the television to actually watch at the party tomorrow.

Come on back to Baltimore. You know you wanna get some more Rex Ryan and Harbaugh sounds like the kind of coach you'd appreciate. Not that Nolan and Singletary aren't great guys too, but you know your home is back in B'Mo.

I think you hang with the wrong people. real friends are real sports fans. Enough said.

Unfortunately they have real girlfriends and wives who want to know important things like "How do they repaint that yellow line so fast?"

Being a woman who has a vast knowledge of football and who'd rather watch Sunday Night Football than Desperate Housewives, I take offense to that.

Good Post Marques, I cant speak from experience as a player but as a parent of one Ive learned to look and appreciate the little things. Thanks for reminding us. Well written.

those casual fans are the ones who spend the cash for your multi million dollar contract... you should be thankful for them

I live in Indianapolis and went to the game against the Broncos. The fans booed Brandon Stokely because he used to be a colt and was now on the broncos. Since most colt fans are really really dumb they didn't know that the colts were the ones who told him to take a hike. he wanted to stay. But the mass amount of average fans is what makes the league so great.

niners all day
