Browns HC Kevin Stefanski: 'This is normal' amid Deshaun Watson, Kareem Hunt situations

Ahead of the weekend, Cleveland Browns head coach Kevin Stefanski remarked that he had to get quarterbacks Deshaun Watson and Jacoby Brissett "ready to play" as Watson faces a potential six-game suspension regarding allegations of sexual misconduct during massage sessions.

It was then reported that Browns running back Kareem Hunt had requested a trade after his desire for a contract extension remained denied.

Per Mike Florio of Pro Football Talk, Stefanski was asked Sunday if he'd prefer to have a "normal" training camp heading into this coming Friday's preseason opener at the Jacksonville Jaguars. The coach offered an interesting answer considering all that's hovering over his organization this summer.

"This is normal," Stefanski responded. "This is normal guys. This is NFL football. As far as I know.

"I would tell you, respectfully, we really do focus on what we can control. I understand that there are things that happen that certainly get attention, and that is OK. This is a great game. I know our fans love this game and follow every step along the way. For us, we really are focused on trying to get better. We are not where we need to be, and we have a lot of work to do. That is what we are focusing on."

The NFL has appealed the ruling from disciplinary officer Sue L. Robinson that said Watson should be suspended for six games and is reportedly asking that the 26-year-old be banned indefinitely and made ineligible to play for the entire upcoming campaign.

As things stand today, Watson is available to play for every preseason game and would make his regular-season debut at the division-rival Baltimore Ravens in Week 7 on Oct. 23.
