Buccaneers WR Cole Beasley: 'I've been wanting to play with (Tom) Brady for a long time'

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers' wide receivers room is starting to resemble a hospital ward given the number of players who are currently nursing injuries. Add on Wednesday's news that Pro Bowl wideout Mike Evans' one-game suspension has been upheld, and the team could be severely shorthanded when it takes on the Green Bay Packers in Week 3.

Tampa Bay officially signed veteran slot receiver Cole Beasley to the practice squad on Wednesday, and depending on how quickly he can learn the playbook, the 33-year-old could certainly see playing time on Sunday. When talking with reporters during his first day with the team, Beasley admitted that he long hoped he'd able to share the sidelines with Tom Brady someday.

The SMU product had a career-high 112 targets during the 2021 season with Josh Allen and the Buffalo Bills, matching his career-best reception total of 82 as well. Beasley finished with 693 receiving yards and scored one touchdown.

In addition to Evans, the Bucs may be without Chris Godwin and Julio Jones, who are recovering from hamstring and knee injuries, respectively. Both Godwin and Jones missed the team's Week 2 win over the New Orleans Saints.
