Bucs Announce Jersey Numbers For 2024 Draft Class
Kirby Lee-USA TODAY Sports

The NFL Draft is now in the books, and it won’t be long before the Bucs’ 2024 draft class gets together at the AdventHealth Training Center for rookie mini camp.

When they do, they’ll be donning their Tampa Bay practice jerseys and Buccaneer helmets for the first time. And as of Tuesday, we now know the jersey number of each player in the team’s draft class.

What Number Will Each Bucs Rookie Be Wearing In 2024?

It was already revealed that Bucs first-round pick Graham Barton would be wearing the No. 62 that he wore at Duke, as he was presented with a No. 62 jersey at his introductory press conference in Tampa last Friday. That number was last worn in 2020, first by A.Q. Shipley and then by Ted Larsen.

Second-round pick Chris Braswell wore No. 41 at Alabama, but with that number occupied by Tampa Bay tight end Ko Kieft, the rookie outside linebacker will pivot to No. 43. That number was last worn by Ross Cockrell in 2021.

Tykee Smith, the first of the Bucs’ two third-round picks, wore No. 23 at Georgia, and he’ll stick with it as he transitions to the NFL. The No. 23 was worn just last year by safety Ryan Neal.

The team’s other third-round pick, Jalen McMillan, wore No. 11 at Washington. However, that number currently belongs to quarterback John Wolford, so McMillan will be wearing No. 15 That was last worn by Richard LeCounte in 2023, but it was last worn by a wide receiver in 2022 when Cole Beasley had a brief stint in Tampa Bay. Cyril Grayson wore it the year before Beasley.

What’s unique about McMillan wearing No. 15 is that it makes for a nice sequence among the team’s receivers as Mike Evans wears No. 13 and Chris Godwin wears No. 14.

Fourth-round running back Bucky Irving will wear the No. 7, which last belonged to Shaq Barrett in 2023. The last time it was worn by a running back was just a year before that, as Leonard Fournette wore it. Irving was No. 0 at Oregon, but Yaya Diaby became the first Buc ever to wear No. 0 last season.

Sixth-round guard Elijah Klein will wear the No. 79 he wore at UTEP. That number was most recently worn by Pat O’Connor from 2017-2023. O’Connor remains a free agent, and the fact that his number now belongs to a rookie may signal the official end of his time with Tampa Bay.

Finally, seventh-round tight end Devin Culp will wear No. 82, which was last worn by Deon Yelder for one game in 2021. Antony Auclair wore it before him. Culp was No. 83 at Washington, but that number belongs to Bucs wide receiver Deven Thompkins.
