Chargers News: Trey Pipkins Praises Fellow Bolts OL
USA TODAY Sports

Los Angeles Chargers’ success this season lies on the shoulders of ensuring whether or not Justin Herbert will have all the tools he needs to become a top-three quarterback in the league. While the stakes are high for him, the AFC West still definitely belongs to the Super Bowl Champion Kansas City Chiefs and they are led by the best QB in the NFL right now: Patrick Mahomes.

Herbert is returning with two WR's he's known his entire career in Mike Williams and Keenan Allen but will also have a new option thanks to the addition of TCU's Quentin Johnston. The Bolts have a solid offensive line that should not allow defenders to break through and make life rough on Herbert in 2023.

Trey Pipkins was resigned by the front office for this very reason and he pointed towards the value that teammate Corey Linsley will bring.

"It’s huge. Any time you can have [a] veteran like Corey [Linsley], who’s been through so much," said Pipkins. "He can teach you so much about the game, about succeeding in the way that you want to succeed and helping you out in your own personal game. Even though he doesn’t play tackle or anything like that, the knowledge he has about the game is great. He helps a ton."

According to Yahoo Sports, the Chargers are hoping that their offensive line will not be a weak spot in their team as they look to rebound after a disappointing playoff season last year. The Chargers will be relying heavily on the offensive line to protect Herbert so that he can work his magic and avoid the fate of last year.

It is a known fact that the Chargers’ offensive line struggled last year and they have since made some changes in the offseason by signing Corey Linsley and Matt Feiler. Linsley has played for the Green Bay Packers for the last seven years and has been one of the best centers in the league. Feiler, on the other hand, has played for the Pittsburgh Steelers for the last four years and has been a solid right tackle.

The Chargers have done their best to shore up the offensive line, and it's now up to the players to do their part to make sure Herbert has all the protection he needs. It's no secret that the success of the Chargers this season will be determined by how well their offensive line performs.
