Eagles tight end Zach Ertz not expected back for four to six weeks due to ankle injury

Philadelphia's never-ending injury saga shows no signs of stopping, as the Eagles received news that tight end Zach Ertz's recovery from an ankle injury will take longer than initially expected, as he will need four to six weeks to be ready to take the field again.

The team was initially hopeful that his recovery time would be two to four weeks but according to NFL Network's Mike Garafolo, four weeks is the minimum amount of time he will likely miss, as the best-case scenario is that he will be ready to play for the Eagles' game against the Cleveland Browns on Nov. 22. But it's looking very possible that the tight end could be out until December.

Losing Ertz is a brutal blow for the Eagles, as they try to get their season back on track after starting the year 1-4-1. Ertz has been Philadelphia's most reliable receiving target (not to mention Carson Wentz's security blanket), racking up at least 800 yards receiving each of the last five seasons.

Other than the San Francisco 49ers, arguably no team has been decimated by injuries more than the Eagles, especially on offense. DeSean Jackson, Alshon Jeffery and Dallas Goedert have all missed time due to injuries while running back Miles Sanders will miss Thursday night's game against the Giants due to a knee injury he suffered in the team's Week 6 loss to the Baltimore Ravens.

Fortunately for Philadelphia, they play in the NFC East, which is looking like a historically bad division and if they can squeak out a win against the Giants Thursday night, they can grab sole possession of first place.
