San Francisco 49ers linebacker Fred Warner might be in serious pain right now, but you wouldn't be able to tell by his demeanor.
During last Sunday's game against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, the All-Pro linebacker suffered a broken and dislocated right ankle in the first quarter. Earlier this week, he underwent season-ending surgery. Before going under the knife, he posted a heartfelt message on Instagram.
"There’s certain games you wake up knowing it’s gonna be your day, and yesterday was one of those days. I knew I was bout to go off, and then boom everything over in one instant that was completely unpreventable," Warner wrote.
The love everyone has shown me and the prayers being had for me mean the world to me. Some ask why I was able to smile on the cart heading in and it’s because (aside from the shock) I have complete peace in knowing Gods plan is so completely perfect and I’m exactly where I’m supposed to be. I’ve had the privilege of being able to have a very healthy 8 seasons and now it’s time to inspire through the comeback I’m bout to have. It will be LEGENDARY and right on time God willing. Thank you guys, love always GO NINERS!"
Now fast forward to this Friday, where Warner and his wife Sydney shared incredible news on social media.
In March 2024, Fred and Sydney welcomed their first child, Beau, into the world. On Friday afternoon, they revealed they'll be having a baby girl fairly soon.
Fred and Sydney posted a video of their gender reveal on Instagram. It was a sweet moment for this couple, especially given what they've been through this month.
"Life knew we were gonna need a little extra sunshine this year," Sydney Warner said. "Let's hope Beau warms up to the idea soon enough. Sweet days are ahead."
Clearly, things are looking up for Warner's personal life. As for his NFL career, we'll see if he somehow beats the odds and makes a miraculous return in the playoffs. Of course, that's if the 49ers make it there.
"For this season to end the way it did, just shameful. But at the same time, I know if we all know Fred, he’s probably gunning to see if he can make it back for a playoff run," 49ers defensive coordinator Robert Saleh said. "So, he’s in great spirits. Surgery went great. He’s going to be around the building, I’m sure he’ll be here the entire time, but I hurt more for Fred than anything else."
We're wishing Warner all the best - on and off the field.
