Giants’ Kayvon Thibodeaux Makes Bold Statement About His Season
Vincent Carchietta-USA TODAY Sports

There haven’t been many bright spots for the New York Giants this season, but edge rusher Kayvon Thibodeaux is one of the few.

Thibodeaux has gotten off to a fantastic start over the first half of 2023, racking up 25 tackles, 8.5 sacks, a forced fumble and a fumble recovery over his first eight games.

This past weekend, Thibodeaux logged nine tackles, three sacks and a forced fumble in the Giants’ disappointing loss to the New York Jets.

Clearly, the 22-year-old is ascending, and he said as much when asked about his spectacular sophomore campaign this week.

“Honestly, you know, it’d be a blessing, I guess,” Thibodeaux said, via Charean Williams of Pro Football Talk. “Right now, I’m at 8.5 sacks, most sacks I’ve ever had in the NFL. It’s only up from here. The bar keeps continuing to move, and I’m proud of it.”

Thibodeaux, who played his collegiate football at the University of Oregon, was selected by New York with the fifth overall pick of the 2022 NFL Draft.

He enjoyed a decent rookie season, playing in 14 games and registering 49 tackles, four sacks, a couple of forced fumbles, a pair of fumble recoveries, five passes defended and a defensive touchdown.

However, that pales in comparison to the impact that Thibodeaux has made this season, as he has been an integral part of a Giants defense that has allowed a grand total of just 34 points over the last three weeks.

Unfortunately for Big Blue, the offense has not been up to snuff, as the Giants have gone just 1-2 in those games as a result of only scoring 33 points themselves.

But at least Kayvon Thibodeaux has given the team something to look forward to.

New York is 2-6 on the season and will battle the Las Vegas Raiders this Sunday.
