Giants' Kayvon Thibodeaux sends warning about mom to Eagles fans

New York Giants second-year pass-rusher Kayvon Thibodeaux opened up about what his family members experienced while attending a road game at the division rival Philadelphia Eagles during his rookie season.

"They were just wearing Thibodeaux jerseys, [fans] don’t know it’s my mom," Thibodeaux explained during an appearance on New York sports radio station WFAN, per Ryan Dunleavy of the New York Post. "You talk about all the vulgar stuff going on in the stands. I couldn’t care less being on the field. You zone it out. It’s the family — it’s hard for them to process they are not talking to you, they are talking to the character or the sport."

Giants legend and two-time Super Bowl champion Eli Manning previously revealed how his now-12-year-old daughter "definitely learned a few new hand gestures" and also "a few new vocabulary words" when they attended this past January's playoff game between Big Blue and the Eagles held at Philadelphia's Lincoln Financial Field. Unsurprisingly, Manning heard more than a few boos from members of the Philadelphia faithful when he was shown on the stadium's big screen during what became a 38-7 blowout Eagles victory.

Dunleavy noted that former Giants running back and current WFAN host Tiki Barber said he stopped letting his family members attend road Eagles games during his playing career due largely to the actions of those in attendance. Thibodeaux made it known his family plans to be at New York's next road game at Philadelphia scheduled for none other than Christmas Day.

The Giants host the Eagles in Week 18.

"They’ll be back," Thibodeaux said about his family making the Week 16 trip. "We’re from (Los Angeles). They are like, 'OK, now we know what it is.' My mom is like, 'I’m bringing my pepper spray. They are not messing with me.'"

OddsChecker listed the Eagles as the betting favorites at -110 odds to claim the NFC East title for the upcoming campaign as of Tuesday afternoon, and the Giants feel they've improved since the playoff loss at Philadelphia. Thus, the Christmas afternoon showdown could be massive for both clubs as it pertains to the postseason.

Philadelphia fans undoubtedly will make their voices heard that day, but they also may want to be particularly polite to Thibodeaux's mother to ensure everyone involved has a happy holiday.
