Michael Irvin: Cowboys drafting CeeDee Lamb is like the Warriors adding Kevin Durant

The Cowboys already had one of the most potent offenses in the NFL before adding receiver CeeDee Lamb in the draft, and former Cowboys receiver Michael Irvin believes adding Lamb is comparable to the Golden State Warriors adding Kevin Durant after winning an NBA-record 73 games the previous season.

"What the Dallas Cowboys did in the 2020 NFL Draft by adding CeeDee Lamb to the No. 1 offense in the National Football League is almost tantamount to Kevin Durant being added to a 73-win Warriors team," Irvin said.

This is obviously a pretty absurd comparison, as the Warriors made it to the Finals and lost in one of the greatest upsets in sports history, while the Cowboys didn't even make the playoffs last season. That's not to mention the fact that while Lamb is a talented and exciting prospect, Durant was a former MVP when he left Oklahoma City for the Warriors.

But if you look past the hyperbolic nature of the comparison, it's easy to see where Irvin was coming from. After all, the Cowboys had the No. 1 offense in the NFL last season, and adding a receiver who many considered to be the best in the rookie class only makes the offense that much more potent.

If Dallas is going to retake the NFC East title from the Philadelphia Eagles, it will need Lamb to become an immediate contributor. The rookie receiver has made it clear he's up to the challenge, as he said he envisions himself having a Hall of Fame career in Dallas.
