New local COVID regulations to affect Seahawks' home games

The Seattle Seahawks are next slated to play at home October 25 against the New Orleans Saints. They’ll then take on the Jacksonville Jaguars in the Pacific Northwest the following week.

After that, things will change for fans attending Seahawks games at Lumen Field in Seattle.

Washington Gov. Jay Inslee (D) announced on Thursday that new COVID-19 vaccine mandates will be initiated, via My Northwest:

“The order — which kicks in Nov. 15 — will require large indoor events of 1,000 people or more, or outdoor events with 10,000 or more attendees, to verify that a person is fully vaccinated against COVID-19 or has obtained a negative test within the prior 72 hours."

Unlike New York City and San Francisco, the mandate does not preclude non-vaccinated individuals from attending large-scale events. Rather, a negative COVID-19 test will suffice.

If you remember, the Pacific Northwest was the first hot spot for COVID-19 in the United States back in the winter of 2020. Inslee acted swiftly in that regard, limiting exposure to the virus moving forward.

As for the Seattle Seahawks, they have six more regular-season home games remaining on the schedule. Four of them will be affected by the new mandate.

• vs. San Francisco 49ers (Dec. 5)
• vs. Chicago Bears (Dec. 26)
• vs. Detroit Lions (Jan. 2)

This new mandate will also affect the NHL’s Seattle Kraken, who just made their regular-season debut Tuesday night against the Las Vegas Knights. Seattle’s first home game will be Oct. 23 against the Vancouver Canucks.
